I was just wondering what people's perceptions of Bush Sr's involvement in his sons government is.

Do you think that he has no involvement whatsoever, he simply goes on "goodwill" trips for him, he has some influence in the White House or its really Bush Sr who is the president again and uses his son as a public facade?

When Bush Jnr. was asked whether he consulted his father over Iraq, he replied by saying "I asked a higher power."
However Bush Snr. is I think, the only former President to recieve daily intelligence reports. Something every former President is entitled to, but, rarely accepts.

I am less concerned of Bush Snr's. influence, than I am with the influence the likes of Cheney, Rove and other Neo-Conservatives. Compared to them, Bush Snr. is a moderate.

He's right, we have other things to worry about. I don't think bush sr. matters anymore.

I watched a documentary,I forget what it was called. But, it explained that Bush is the type of person who doesn't act without consultation of his cabinet. His ideas aren't his own. Hes an unimaginative hollow shell.

As for his father giving him advice, yeah its well known.

In the comming election I expect one of his cronies to run for the Republican Party and its evident that Hillary Clinton is going to run for the Democrats.

This is trite, but whats going to happen is possibly a switch from one dynasty to another. It might as well be the same people seeing how Clinton works within the Bush regime.

I wish this is true, but the things are completely different.
George Herbert Walker Bush joined the CIA in late 50´s. His first important operation was the organization of Bay of Pigs Invasion(Playa Girón). Along with Félix Rodríguez (former Batista´s secret agent), he recruited Cuban mercenaries, among those Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch. The names of the boats used in the invasion were: "Zapata" the name of his oil company,"Barbara" his wife´s name and "Houston".
His most important achievement was the assasination of Ernesto Guevara (1967).
In 1976 he became CIA´s director, and remained in the post until 1980.
As soon as he was named director, he organized with his friend Félix Rodríguez a group named CORU (Commanders of United Revolutionary Organizations), it´s goal was to carry out a number of terrorist operations, some of them:
08/09/1976 The abduction and dissappearance of two employees of the Cuban Embassy in Argentina (Crescencio Galarraga and Jesús Cejas Arias) .
09/21/1976 The assasination of former Chilean chancellor Orlando Letellier. They blew up his car in Washington D.C.
10/06/1976 The blown up of a Cuban plane with 73 passengers.
In 1979 the USSR invaded Afghanistan and Bush resorted to Osama Bin Laden, who accepted to infiltrate and to strengthen the resistance against the Soviets with the help of the CIA.
The relationship between George Bush Sr. and the Bin Laden family began in 1968 when he and Muhammad Bin Laden (Osama´s father) became business partners.

So, I must say I believe this man plays a very important role in the policies and decisions carried out by the White House.

I did know that Bush was heavily involved in the CIA.

The man MAY not be as important anymore as he once was....but he could still be a very important person in the White House...after all, he is a former president and father to the current president....and he's also an idiot, along with his son, wife, other sons....the whole Bush family are idiots!
