Do you think he'll become the next Salvador Allende? How long do you think he'll last? If he does last until his term ends in 2007, do you think he'll be re-elected if he runs again? What do you think will happen in Venezuela if there's another coup?

One can only imagine the different things that the American government has in store for Chavez.
One things for sure, his reformist politics won't bring about a revolution.

Why don't you think so?

I am optimistic nothing will happen to Chávez.
Evidence (http://www.vheadline.com/0212/14248.asp) was provided the day before Washington's official statement (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/12/20021213.html) about a possible coup collaboration between the elite of Caracas and DC.
This is mainly because some crucial land reforms and other reforms are going to be implemented by the Chávez government in January. *Unfortunately for the elite, the Bolívarian Constitution does not allow for a referendum until 1/2 way through a presidential term, in the case of Chávez, August 2003. *This is too late. *The rich elitist minority needs to oust him soon if they wish to stop the implementation of a great deal of massive reforms, to stop Chávez from getting the ball rolling so to say.
I am nevertheless optimistic. *Since the April coup, the Venezuelan poor majority has become much more mobilized and politically aware than they were before. *Unlike in Dec 2001, this general "strike" has a substancial amount of counter-demonstrators, those being the pro-Chávez poor majority of Venezuela. *
They may try, but I say that Chávez is not under as much pressure as the elitist media portray him to be.
Keep up with the latest events with authentic journalism at NarcoNews.com (http://www.narconews.com) and Vheadline.com (http://www.vheadline.com/p1). *Don't let the corporate owned anti-Chávez media deceive you.

Chavez is in trouble, but he can get through it. What is he going to do about the strikes? I think he needs more workers for the oil reserves or he will be done for. Good luck Hugo!

Ofcourse the rich elite will not compromise, hence the rioting. American media only shows the anti Chavez rallies, I have not seen one piece of information on Pro Chavez supporters. All the news articles are about anti-Chavez and oil. ::rollseyes::
Latin America slowly turns left. :)
