Barbara Bush: Things Working Out 'Very Well' for Poor Evacuees from New Orleans

NEW YORK Accompanying her husband, former President George
H.W.Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in
Houston, Barbara Bush said today, referring to the
poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated,
"This is working very well for them."

The former First Lady's remarks were aired this
evening on National Public Radio's "Marketplace"
program.

She was part of a group in Houston today at the
Astrodome that included her husband and former
President Bill Clinton, who were chosen by her son,
the current president, to head fundraising efforts for
the recovery. Sen. Hilary Clinton and Sen. Barack
Obama were also present.

In a segment at the top of the show on the surge of
evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: "Almost
everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to
Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing which is sort of
scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is
so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you
know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she
chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."

Is EVERY member of the Bush family a fuckin fool??????

What they dont seem to realise is that the government is going to have to shell out millions for these people who will definitely need benefit money. So it hasnt worked out so well for the government has it Barbara?

Is EVERY member of the Bush family a fuckin fool??????

Wasn't it Barbara Bush who replied to the question "Do you think about the women and children being killed in Iraq?" By saying "I don't want to taint my beautiful mind with such horrid thoughts."

The policy of the right, as long as you don't think about it, it doesn't happen.

Ya know, it's a good thing for all those black people going to Texas that George isn't still Governor there...they might wind up on death row if he was.

Aside from that, they are proving themselves very well to be the biggest bunch of arrogant assholes, who are either to stupid to realize what they are saying or just don't care, on the planet.

Jesus christ. This is the sort of snobbery I would expect from aristocracy, for fuck's sake.

Mrs Bush is the bourgoise. The bourgoise is powerful enough for their children to gain positions of power. They are the new aristocracy.

I cannot believe that! Is this remark being widely publicised, imagine if a more lireal person said that, or someone the media generally didnt like. They'd be ripped to shreads.

I read she was forbidden to speak when she and George H.W. Bush went to Europe. I guess it is apparent why. It would make sense that she brought W. into the world. He seems to have inherited his mother's knack for saying the most stupid shit ever.

I can't wait until the baby-boomers kick the bucket, and then our generation can lead. We will be the makers of the new policy. Say good-bye to homophobia and ghettos! And hello to powerful labour unions!

Don't let Barrabra Bush anger you, she's obviously not very bright, and her face looks like egg foo young!

You expect nothing less of the Bush family i suppose. In future, someone who actually has a grasp on reality should tell Barabbas Bush to keep her mouth shut.
