It wont mean shit to us, because the working people wont be able to afford the gas long before it really starts to run out.

IT will be a ritch mans problem.

Fuck it.

Then those bastards up there will have to admit they found alternative feul sources for our cars and stop sleeping with the oil companies cuase they suck in bed anyway.

the good thing bout oil is that we cant fuck up the planet forever, cuz someday there wont be none left and then those rich bastards near i live will realize that a wind farm in the ocean is actually a good idea, even a few one inch towers will ruin their beautiful mansion waterfront views

I'm seventeen, and I totally gave up on the idea of having a car in the first place. There's no way in hell I'm going to speed peak oil, pitch in for pollution, and gain weight from not walking.

On the other hand, my job is about three miles away, and bike riding gets pretty tiring. :(

i ride a bike everywhere... so gasoline is no problem for me.. but for the rest of the country.. when gas runs out, everything is going to stop. trucks arent going to beable to haul goods across states, because the government has destroyed other plans.

trouble is, when petrol runs out theyll find some other natural resource to abuse which rich people will be able to afford but others wont

Public transit is great too.

It gets me where I need to go for 40 bucks a month. There's no need to have a car.

Such naivete. Wind farms are not a serious candidate for power production, they are supplemental only.

Wind towers are fucking huge. Their height is in tens of meters not inches.

Hempseed Oil = Diesel Fuel
Gas Company = Loses money, therefore
Marijuana = Illigal, and
Society = Fucked.

This is what scares me, the idea of it costing a hella lot of money to transport things from point A to point B. I had the example earlier today: A pair of socks made in New Mexico could cost around, say, $20 here (outskirts of Chicago), because of the cost to take them from there to here. Of course, there's a type of fuel that grows out of the ground, and when you use it up, you can plant some more, but it is illegal. I'm starting to not care if whatever's legalised can get you stoned, I don't want to have to pay $20 for socks. <_<

AS poor as we are, we'll still need plastics.

I was told by someone, so I don't know how reliable this is, that about thirty years ago one of the major oil companies bought the patent on a hydrogen engine.

After writing that. I saw this topic.

I do not see us ridding ourselves of the use of gasoline in the near future, but I do however see us creating more fuel effecient and ecological cars by creating gasoline-electric hybrid cars. They would double the gas milage and reduce our dependency on oil a great deal.

The real reform of oil use though needs to occur in mass energy production, I believe we should begin investing in fusion power more and possibly look to more efficient and safer methods of fission power in the mean time.

We'd still have bio diesel...right? That stuff is the shit!

And even if we didn't, there will always be alternative fuel sources. Like maybe they'd even have steam powered cars.

I think he meant that if they were out in the ocean they would look about an inch tall from the coast.

When the oil runs out cars will still be able to run with the hydro engines that they are holding back. Remember, water can't be destroyed so we'll never run out of it. As for plastics...well...we're pretty buggered in that respect.

Wrong, Earth is rapidly running out of access to fresh water. Within one hundred years countries rich with fresh water will be the imperialist and those without will be the third world. In essence, Canada will have economic dominion over most of North America and the Nordic nations and Russia will rule over Europe and Asia.

We do not have viable hydrogen powered vehicles, but that is because we have not found efficient methods. In socialism, as scientists would decide what they do and not corporations and to an extent the state, we will progress far beyond our current levels.
