What Kanye said at NBC telethon for hurricane victims:

http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/3486/kanyespeaksthetruth4dd.jpg

I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family and they say we are looting, you see a white family and they say they are looking for food. And, you know, its been five days because most of the people ARE black. And even for me to complain, I would be a hypocrite because I would turn away from the TV because its too hard to watch.

Ive even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now Im calling my business manager right to see what is the biggest amount I can give. And just to imagine, if I was down there and those are my people down there. If there is anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help about the way America is set up the help the poor, the black people, the less well off as slow as possible.

Red cross is doing as much as they can. We already realize a lot of the people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way. And now theyve given them permission to go down and shoot us.

*Mike Myers talks again and quickly attempts to finish*

George Bush doesnt care about black people.

*camera cuts off*

To be more accurate that should say, "the American government will never care for the poor".

what the hell are you talking about, ownthink?

It's surprising how NBC so desperately sensored such an obviously true message.

They had it edited out when it aired on the West Coast like the thing wasn't all over the internet and news anyway. The one thing is that what he said can be showed to be true, but he won't have the chance to show it that way and people on the right and even liberals will object to the message...even though it is as plain as day.

I think Mike Meyers and Chris Rock shat themselves when he said that.

Even Chris Rock looked stunned. I was laughing for minutes because that.

Chris Tucker.
I wish Chris Tucker woulda followed up, that woulda been some shit. Then you woulda never seen another black celeb on the telethon lmao.

Nate, Kayne West gets alot of airtime on mtv and radio. One of the most popular producers that has turned rapper.

I hate to point this out to you but Kanye plays on MTV all the time. Also I'd like to point out the fact that MTV does not = unaware.

People got on Jay-Z because he was all commercial. Well two things. First off If you were a poor kid from Brooklyn don't lie and say you wouldn't do that because there is a really good chance that you would. Secondly let me direct you to the song Renegade's opening line "Muthafucka, say that I"m foolish, I only talk about Jewels, do you fools listent to music or do you just skim through it?".

Kanye makes bullshit songs all the time, case in point "diamonds" which while the video seemed to talk about the trail of blood diamonds the song had nothing to do with it. At the same time he makes songs that are somewhat socially conscious.

People...artists don't have to be only commercial or only underground. I missed out on a lot of good music because i simply refused to listen to anything commercial. Yeah the system is bullshit...but hey the Game actualley had two good songs. He isn't a hero of mine or something, but I can appreciate when someone makes a good song.

Shit Mos Def does shit for HB-Fucking-O and he did a Converse and a Car commercial. That doesn't mean that Thieves in the Night wasn't a good song or a Socially Conscious one.

People, we really need to stop judging based on where they play. Talib Kweli's songs have been on MTV, shit Nas was all over MTV.

i never said i judged an artists music from the point that they participate on mtv. except for the obvious pop crap. i just find mtv very reactionary and that pogressive people should use other means than mtv to get a message out.

Kanye's a little confused.

He's got a good heart but he needs to get his ideology together before he does shit like this.

Also he may only buy into the media outlook on rap. How many people do you see on TV advocating rap that are white? Eminem, and thats about it.

In an interesting note: Why do you think the media seems to stereo type rap as a "minority" music?

That was great, I used to dislike Kanye West because of his Jesus video, now I think he's alright.

I don't know who this west guy is, but I happen to think he's right. Yet, I think race is a bit superficial. Of course Bush cares about black people, provided they are wealthy. Bush doesn't care about poor black people is more accurate. Just like, how Bush does care about white people, provided they are rich. Bush doesn't care about poor white people.

I usually don't agree with Jackson, but today we see eye to eye.

"Of course Bush cares about black people, provided they are wealthy"

Even if their wealthy, its if they want to sell out to him and forget who they are and their own peoples interests and feed their own people into the white machine.
Its sad but it is hard for a black person to be sucessful in this country and be a black person. Because its a white dominated society, and you got to play the damn game.

You dont need to even have all your marbles straight to see that shit though. The people who run this counrty just dont give a damn. They make it clear when they take a month of vacation while peoples kids die for them in Iraq.
George Bush doesnt deserve a damn vacation!
Talk about morals. It has nothing to do with me thinking he is a bad man or any of that. I just think you cant take shit too seriously if you are leading a war and new shit happens every day- and youre the damn President during the whole thing....and you go off on vacation.
Sorry Bush, but damn. <_<

You dont have to be a part of any specific ideology to speak out for what you believe in! It would be just either if you were a capitalist or a communist, it still is a stand that he took for what he believed is right! And I respect him for not being a blind sheep!

Even if their wealthy, its if they want to sell out to him and forget who they are and their own peoples interests and feed their own people into the white machine.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at, and I tend to think this shows some racial thinking. Nevertheless, if people evolved (yes it hasn't stopped with just our thumbs) we would realize, and know that race, and any implications of race are false. By 1940, practically all evolutionary scientist disregard anything called race, or any physical characteristics that went along with race. Biologist, and geneticist all have shown evidence that race if anything is a social construct made by old, and (should be) eliminated terminology.

So there is no such thing as their own people and into the white machine. That is wrong, and false. Fact is, thinking like that only perpetuates, hardens and makes concrete false and illusionary claims. Fact is, people are dying, starving and are dead who are poor, period. Yet, I won't deny they do have an interest, that, like all minorities is to break the institutional prejudices steaming from false, historical ignorance. See, that is the thing, that is not taught in high school.

Its sad but it is hard for a black person to be sucessful in this country and be a black person. Because its a white dominated society, and you got to play the damn game.

I tend to agree with you. Yet, its based on no factual claims that race has any kind of validity. Yes, they do have a harder time because both people are ignorant. Yes, both rather live in the 18th century, rather than the 21st. Also, its not a white dominated society. That is thinking along illusionary racial lines. Rather, its historical ignorance that has been perpetuated by elite power to suppress an opposing class. Being white is arbitrary. The only reason why white people have been the dominating class, is because of our technological advancement, and ruthless, and bloodthirsty advancing that technology.

I have to disagree with you.

For one thing you actually said something racist without knowing it, you first stated that are know real barriers, yet in this quote you mention how white people are more technologically advanced.

You say there is no such thing as racial barriers, between black and white,
then why is it when the black people were freed from their prominent shackles of slavery, they were left to still live in the poor areas?
Ever since the black people were free from slavery there hasn't been any great reforms to rebuild the poor areas, set up better schools, set up better jobs.

When New Orleans is rebuilt, they may rebuild the area, but is not for the benefit of the poor black majority, if it was they would rebuild their homes, make them more accomadating and storm proof ,free of charge, and they wouldn't tear down the housing districts so big business can move in.Instead the government gives them small cheques without making sure they have a job or suitable housing.

Our generation may not be so racially minded anymore, but the previous generations were racially minded and because they never wanted to pull the black population out of poverty, the black population still is suffering from the racism of the past.

The government is indept to black people of America, they should now make sure that they get all of the privildges the white people have, they didn't in the past when the blacks were freed from slavery. I doubt the government will spend the tax dollars for such a renissanse, so the population which happens to black is stuck in poverty.

You may argue that black individuals can get themselves out of those areas if they try, well they have to try to be more sucessful than white people, who live in nice areas. And another thing, if the whole black population were to get out of poverty, there would be no one doing all the manual labour and minimum wage jobs, the economy would crumble. Capitalism depends on a population of low wage and out of work individuals because this keeps comodities cheap, wages low and business competative.

It is racism from the past that still has an effect on the black population.
Today, it not really necessarily because of their pigment of why their stuck in poverty, its because no real changes where made guarrentee their livlihood.
If it were the Kurds who were the slaves in America, the same thing would be happening to them.

And yes George Bush must really hate black people if he isn't giving them the priviledges everyone else has.

it has gone from hate to indifference, techinally he is not being racist because he is not helping them because they are black he is just not helping them at all

bonnock burn you are a RACIST...how are you gonna say that the white male does not have control over american society? shit they control the world and colored people, africans and latinos who are mainly poor, are opressed. It all goes back to imperialism in the late 1800's and early 1900's when european, "white men", basically tried taking over all africa and latin america for their own economic and commecial profits and it has left these countries depending on them. These people are opressed especially blacks in america. Throw that race bullshit you're talkin about out the window. you are either a white man who is ashamed of his race and tryin to make excuses for them or you are an uncle tom or what i like to call a "house nigga."

The black African population in the U.S. lives under daily oppression. We live in poverty and we are constant victims of police brutality and murder. We fill the prisons never receiving justice in the court system. We are exploited and pimped by the companies and businesses we have to work for in this society. We are the victims of a U.S. controlled drug economy that labels the black community criminals and kidnaps us by the thousands every day to become prisoners of war. In fact we are prisoners in and outside of cell walls. We are prisoners because we have to fear that some pack of wild gun carrying pigs can harass, beat, jail, or kill us at any moment. we are prisoners because without that wage, that little bit of crumbs you get for working while their private companies grow richer and richer, we cant even afford the overpriced lowest quality food they sell to us in the stores(and the stores are owned by everybody else but us). Capitalism is what they call the economic system we live under. "Cash rules everything around me," "is all about the Benjamins." we hear it in the music. We feel it in our lives. Capitalism means black suffering. They call this a "free" market for "enterprise." they say anybody can make it if you play by the rules. But what rules do the trigger happy police play by when they murder us all over this so called free country? What rules did they play by when they forced black people into slavery to build up the "front money for this white capitalist system? no we aunt free in this society no more than food is free at the grocery store or no more than health care is free when we get sick. We are living in oppression. This is the root cause to the violence in our communities among each other. We are the frustrated victims of a criminal system! We live in fear and ignorance...but the times are changing. They are changing because we are tired of living like this! We are tired of dying like this! We are tired of losing our friends our family our people to death jails and prisons. We are tired of being hungry and being forced into the drug economy by our daily needs. We are tired of being harassed beaten and murdered by the police. We are tired of Uncle Tom leaders telling us how mad to get and to trust in this corrupt system to give us justice. We are tired of slaving every day for little or nothing while fattening up white peoples stomachs and wallets and we are realizing that those of us who live in these conditions of oppression have only ourselves. We have to begin to learn more about what can make a difference. Not no bullshit but a real difference. We have to get together have meetings and decide for ourselves what we need to do to change the conditions we live in an defend our rights! we aint going to just sit around and wait for more and more shit to keep making our lives harder. We must organize and educate each other ad be ready to move on the ideas we come up with. We will study our past mistakes so we can avoid repeating them. When we do this then we can get somewhere. LETS GET FREE! Welcome to the revolution!

many of his singles have been on mtv yes. Just wondering are you saying someone who is politicallyl aware does not belong on mtv? That seems a little bit jaded to say.
