I just thought I would start a Smashing Pumpkins thread as they are set to reform any time soon and I want to know what you guys think of this amazing band. Personally, I thought their earlier stuff was amazing, especially Siamese Dream and Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. I thought their later stuff was far too 'polished' and it just wasn't the same as the raw sound of their earlier days. I never heard Zwan so I can't comment but I've heard Billy Corgan's new album and it's shit. Thank god the Pumpkins are reforming!

Good news, but what will happen to A Perfect Circle?

I think the best Pumpkins song is The Everlasting Gaze.

Damn, I just got into The Smashing Pumkins, with help of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. My girlfriend handed me the sheet music to the song and asked me to play it, and it was.. beautiful.

It would be awesome if they reformed.

It'll be fucking whit anyway who cares? James Iha's solo stuff was utter crap and listen to his new direction in APC. Listen to Corgan's work on Zwan and the awful electro crap new album.

I loved this band at the time and am still really fond of certain stuff but will it be good again? FUCK NO! It'll be rubbish.

nope they just fulfilled thier record deal and didnt bother getting another one as the only two real members were kinda go different ways for the moment, maynard with Tool, and Howerdal with a solo project, thier like on a break or something like what happened to Tool

James Iha's contribution two apc apart from playing live with them was just playing on one song a cover i might add on eMotive

though he is an excellent guitarist and i cant wait to hear the Smashing Pumpkins again
i will see them live i will kill my mother if i have to but i will see them
