That's a lot of oil lost. Think of the impacts on society, and the oppurtunities in the next few months.

gas prices near me are $3.30 a gallon. I've heard the state of Pennsylvania is planning on rationing its gasoline.

We're only at 2.98 in Pensacola, Florida.

Most gas stations are out, and at the one I know of that still has any the line was 40 cars deep.

Forget the gas prices, think of the human impact of this hurricane. now, waytch me spin this to a criticism of capitalism (I can do it):

Those that couldn't leave New Orleans as the hurricane struck were those who could not afford to do so. Now, thousands (probably) of poor, working class New Orleans citizens are dead. Would they really have died if they lived under communism? I think not. And so, here, we literally have an example of how capitalism leads to the death of the poor. When you start thinking about this shit, you'll get really pissed off. I've heard one story of a Chicago resident paying a limo driver $2000 to get out of New Orleans. The people you see on the news no couldn't afford that, those who are not dead in the streets couldn't afford that. The system lead them straight to their deaths.

thats always the case, with any disasters - natural or man made. those with money can escape, afford operations or meds or whatever after the fact. those who dont, die.

money can buy anything - freedom, life, education

and if you dont have it, youre fucked.

so. fucking. wrong.

Absolutely.

Its times like this that bikes become extremely handy, especially since its now September and temperatures will be going down a bit from the oppressive heat of August.

Bikes are a good idea. They give you some exercise and are environmentally friendly. And if you only need to go a short distance, maybe a mile or two and under, you could easily walk. :)
