Weren't they sort of a copy of the German Red Army Faction?

Other way round. That's why the RAF were called the Red Army FACTION, implying that they were engaged in international struggle in association with the JRA.

They were theoretical degenerates with a poor grasp of Marxist-Leninism, using flawed tactics. They did more harm than good.

They're true Marxists at heart, and I disagree with "Scars" they were real Marxists unlike the lofty idea'd "Leninists".

There concept of using guirella warfare to smash state power and corporate power are essential to modern communism. But what they fail at is that they do not empower the masses after destroying these bourgeois powers.

That's their main fault, they made no attempt to gain the mass support of the workers and instead simply alienated them. In addition they give all Communists a bad name. Their heroism and dedication is admirable, their methodology was ulimately flawed.

The JRA were a dodgy cult. They bludgeoned a whole shitload of their own members to death. They split of at one point into two groups one was pro-DPRK and the other was based in the Lebanese Bekaa valley, which was more focused on the Palestinian struggle. They once hijacked a plane with Samurai swords and flew it to the DPRK. Shigenobu was captured in about 2000 and she said she wanted to continue the struggle in a parliamentary way.
They were very strange indeed.

Yeah. Their leader had quite serious mental problems (in a real, actual condition way. Skitzophrenia I think), so he didn't make for the best or most rational leader. When they finally got caught it was discovered that the leader had killed several other members for strange reasons (refer to mental illness).
