In what way are US forces directly to blame? True, this wouldn't have happened had they not occupied Iraq, but what realistically could they have done?

It's only a shame that innocent Iraqis had to pay the price.

I agree, they could not do anything to stop it. I mean what are they supposed to do? Shoot them? Shout at them? Maybe megaphones and someone who speaks arabic and english would help, but those are hardly commonplace.

The death toll may exceed 1,000. It is a sickening amount of bloodshed, but I think the only one to blame is the person who claimed there was a suicide bomber in the area.
