lets say there was a tornado or huricane(or somthing bad that there wasnt any time to defend against) coming and there was only so much wood to close the windows off with(or what ever would be needed to use for protection) how would it be decided who gets the materials needed (divided equal wont do any good). just a question someone had asked me hoping you could lend your opinion.

What if there was no lie?
Nothing wrong, nothing right.
What if there was no time?
And no reason or rhyme.
What if you should decide, that you don't want me there by your side.
That you don't want me there in your life.

What if I got it wrong, and no poem or song
Could put right what I got wrong
Or make you feel I belong
What if you should decide that you don't want me there by your side
That you don't want me there in your life.

Oooh, that's right
Let's take a breath jump over the side
Oooh, that's right
How can you know it if you don't even try
Oooh, that's right

Every step that you take could be your biggest mistake
It could bend or it could break
But that's the risk that you take
What if you should decide
That you don't want me there in your life
That you don't want me there by your side.

Oooh, that's right
Let's take a breath jump over the side
Oooh, that's right
How can you know it when you don't even try
Oooh, that's right

Ohhhhh

Oooh, that's right
Let's take a breath jump over the side
Oooh, that's right
You know that darkness always turns into light
Oooh, that's right

I was thinking of that song when I saw the title of this thread.

If its an hurricane it wont last too long, so why not get as many people as possible into one building and use the wood for that building's windows?

exactly, and after the hurricane everyone helps to rebuild the houses destroyed.

If covering that one building's windows took all the wood, and there was not room in that building for everyone, who would get left out in the storm?

Why couldn't the rest be evacuated? Surely there would be some safe place to go, and if the natural disaster is powerful enough, I would think everyone would evacuate (sometimes boardin' up the windows doesn't do any good).

You're all missing the point of the question. Its not about realistic storm preperation, its what to do with a resource that cannot be given to all.

yes, thank you. I was just giving an example. Like, some peopel have pets and objects like paintings or even a couch that is inportant to them. Who gets there things protected. Not like there would be time for every one to submitt an essay.

This isn't a practical question, its an ethical one. It boils down to. If there's 100 of you, and 15 have to die, how do you choose who to kill.

Oh. That's simple. The coolest way there is; Embowling their head off and taking their shoulder, rippin' their heart out, invidually :P

Not necessarily in that order.
No, really. To be serious; I'd think we'd just dig a tunnel out of the dangerous area before-hand to use it in case, then the tunnel would get up at the other side of some hill or even a small mountain, then we can proceed from there and make a temporary camp (Although the camp can remain for later use...it'll only be used temporary).

Obviously the hurricane/twister/orcane would be too busy demolishing the town, to care about a few humans who escape? Heh. Then everyone can survive. The tunnel would be dug out of a underground shelter ;) When it's over, we'll return. How could it be more simple?
