We had to take this for my American History class, it's kind of lame because it's focused on America's "liberal-conservative" politics rather than political reality.

Tests like that are interpreted according to the test maker's own paradigm. For example, I'm betting that saying that the current goverment should not do something is scored the same way as saying that it should not be done. I bet the question about guns would rate you as conservative for being opposed to gun control, even if the reason you want guns is to overthrow the conservative goverment.

Saying no to goverment "wellfare" programs that are financed by exploitation of the people they are supposed to help, given a hypothetical situation where things are as they "should" be, is likely to get you a conservative rating as well. If things were as they "should" be, there would be no goverment to enforce the exploitation of one class by another, thus no need for wellfare, and so a goverment "should" not be providing wellfare - not exactly a conservative philosophy.

I'm no expert, but I have taken a class on test design. This is a poorly designed test.

Or maybe I'm just being defensive because it ranked me 10% conservative (22) :lol:
