Has anyone ever heard of the band Orchid? This is one of my all-time favorite bands. Here's some info about the band:

Considered by many to be one of the pioneers of the "screamo" sound, Orchid was first and foremost a hardcore band. Orchid combined a post-modern aesthetic with hardcore punk releasing several now hard to find splits (with bands including The Red Scare, Jerome's Dream, combatwoundedveteran, Encyclopedia of American Traitors and the grindcore band Pig Destroyer), a 10" record (Dance Tonight, Revolution Tomorrow on Ebullition Records) and an LP (Chaos Is Me on Ebullition Records). Orchids' influences include the Canadian hardcore band Union of Uranus and One Eyed God Prophecy. Dance Tonight, Revolution Tomorrow and Chaos Is Me where released together as a single album, also on Ebullition Records. The band's final release before their break-up was Gatefold on Ebullition Records. Members went on to form the bands Wolves, Panthers, Ampere, Bucket Full of Teeth, and Transistor Transistor. Posthumously, a cd compiling all of their singles and split releases (Totality on Clean Plate Records) was released. The cd also contains compilation tracks and songs from the Dance Tonight... Sessions.

Some lyrics with links to where I got it from where commentary is provided:

Snow Delay At The Frankfurt School (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=54429)
like anywhere else there are no
coincidences, probability makes for
accomplices and change creates meaning.

when we move, it's a movement.

Anna Karina (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=54426)
The news paper reads:
"Tu est adorable"
And I whole heartedly oncur.

Don't Rat Out Your Friends (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=54445)
books in face-books on tape
sweet success, I've lost the weight.
It's a dream...
the ante gets upped everytime
evolution lets us down-
there are too many to them, and not
enough of us.
join the lowbrow elite.
education gets IV'ed
kids need ventilation-
we'll give it to them.
all systems are gouche.

I Am Nietzche (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=54458)
"to hear something new is hard and
painful for the ear. We hear the music
of forigners badly."
i make the sounds you can't understand-
this is my critique!
this is my subversion!
this is my revolution!
i make the sounds that you can't
understand. My fingers, my voice
slide into every orifice.
You (I) own these words.
This is friendship.
That's what friends are for-
I AM NIEZTCHE!
1886 was a very good year- and
you know this to be true.
Thus spake me.

Le Desorde, C'est Moi. (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=54567)
"what true project has been lost?"
slip of the fingertips.
"what true project has been lost?"
snake eyes and slit wrists.
"Contest the Totality"
complete self-destruction
all the watches stop when the first
brick was thrown.
chaos is me
le desorde c'est moi.
chaos is me.

Tigers (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858503352)
I kiss the girls that speak Marcuse.
I kiss the boys that speak Foucault.
I love the kids that know Adorno
and snub their nose at kids who don't.
I make love in theory and touch myself in practise.
What's good for the posture is good for the pose.
Who let the Tigers out to kill all the lovers?

Link (http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?aid=7124) to all their posted lyrics. As you can see their lyrics are incredibly deep. Even the ones that look shallow at first glance, you can see once you look deeper that they do have a profound meaning. Such as in "Le Desorde, C'est Moi". This was a situationalist slogan during the May '68 uprising in France. That's just one example out of many.

If anyone wants to buy any of there stuff you can find most of it here (http://www.ebullition.com) or on ebay (http://www.ebay.com) for relatively cheap. If you like screamo/hardcore this band is DEFINITELY worth checking out. I'd post a song of theirs but I'm not sure where on the internet I'd be able to put it up at. If you pm me I could IM you with a song or few.

I'll stick a song up on my myspace and link it up when I feel like it. I'm surprised nobody's heard of them.

Bleh, I dislike screamo.

And yet you like grindcore?

EDIT: HERE IS A LINK TO MY MYSPACE WHICH HAS ONE OF THEIR SONGS ON IT (http://www.myspace.com/lazar_). It's "I Am Nietzche".
