Dear friends,

Militant greetings from All Pakistan Trade Union Federation.

As you all know that the management of Capital Industry (Pvt) Ltd is constantly violating labor laws, not allowing workers to practice their very legal right of collective bargaining. Management of Capital Industry Pvt. Ltd. is constantly attacking on workers right, and not accepting their demands. They hire goons men to harass union avtivists and using all the tactics to bust trade union.

As campaign for demands of workers of Capital Industries have started earlier, with briefs and update about situation, but inspite of workers struggle locally and international solidarity, mangement and government authorities still not look serious in solving out this issue, and adopting delay tactics.

To support the struggle of Capital Industry Workers, we request you to immediately send protest messages to Chief Executive of Capital Industries (name, adress, fax etc. given). Please find below and Attached "Protest letter" kindly sign it and send it to Chief Executive of Capital Industries.

Subject: Unfair Labor Practice

Dear Mr. Waqar,

We are very disappointed to hear about the anti-worker approach and unfair labor practices of management of Capital Industries (Pvt) Ltd. We have came to know that the workers union, which is collective bargaining agent, presented a demand notice to the management, but management instead of initiating dialogue with workers union, starts to victimize and harass the union activists to withdraw its demand notice, which is clear violation of labor laws and workers rights, on the part of the management.

Meanwhile, the management of Capital Industries terminated 24 workers from services without any reason and filed a case against the union, and got the court order restricting union not to hold workers meeting within limit of 200 meters from the factory.

As we have been informed that management is continuously harassing the office bearers and workers and shifting machinery of the factory to other place and selling factory land, in order to divide the workers and weaken their strength. This scenario reveals that management is anti-worker as well as anti-union, and clearly violating ILO Convention 98 and 87. The whole situation is very discouraging and miserable as workers are only practicing their very legal right of collective bargaining, not appreciated by the management.

Under these circumstances, we strongly denounce management policy to attack workers union, and urge you to accept and practice workers rights in healthy working environment, and demands you to:

q Immediately reinstate 24 workers including office bearers of the union.

q Accept workers demands such as salary increase, health & safety measure, medical treatment, production incentive/bonus, freedom of speech and collective bargaining and restore already avail benefits.

We hope that you will arrange proper measures to solve this matter, and chalk out remedies of workers grievances. We convey our full support and solidarity to workers and their cause, and determined to continue our struggle together, till each worker gets his right.

Yours Sincelly,
