"workers of all nations, unite !"

thats the message eh ?

well, i'm kind of new, and looking at the community, i see that its DAMN divided...not really united.
What if one day the revolution we all hope for comes ? which policy to use ?
you got the anarchists, the communists, the socialists, and than you got the sub-categories (for example, maoist, leninist, stalininst, marxist,...)

I'm just wondering: on what points do ALL leftists agree ?

let me try some:
- we all hate the free market ?
- we all want revolution somewhere, somehow.
- we all got atleast "sympathy" for the proletariat.
- we all hate the nazi-Fuckers.
- we all are not convinced catolics

please add stuff you think all leftists agree on.

We need many branches like a tree needs many roots - in order to find the water it needs a tree sends out many roots which all search for it. And that is what the branches of Communism should be doing.

It would be nice if we could all work together for a common goal, but when one looks at the situation, we see that it is impossible, not to mention that any attempted unity would prove counterproductive.

To begin, we leftists are not united on means. That is, we all bicker as to how the revolution will happen, why it will happen, when it will happen, what it will look like, and what to do in the mean time.

Secondly, we leftists are not even united on ends! Some say socialism is neccesary (and socialists themselves further divide as to how this socialism should look), others say it may be skipped.

these are sharp and important divisions. Unity is simply, unfortunately, impossible.

Anomaly,

Gave up on that Anti Capital Party?

Basic and complete unprincpled unity will never happen. If it does, it will not be for the best. Popular Front tatics can usually destroy revolutions by trying to unite all the "progressive" forces.

Though united front tatics can be useful. The coming together and fighting for a specific goal while everyone and party retains its on programe and theories without have to sacrifice any thing on the basis of unity.

The United Front tatic has been working quite well in the case of Hands Off Venezuela which has gotten support from so of the bigger union in Europe and is making progress in the US too.

Yea, gave up on that awhile ago (the beginning of the summer). But you are correct that any form of a 'united front' against capitalism can be successful as long as that front simply agrees on means. It need not agree on ends.

However, it will be difficult to sort out the desired ends of the many factions making up the united front should the revolution succeed. Perhaps they can all be done, and the revolutionized territory can be divided. That would certainly go along with our ideology. (a confederacy, of sorts..many loosely united territories)
