Possibly not. Look up the telephone number of your local ACLU (which will probably be listed by state; e.g., New York Civil Liberties Union), give them a call and tell them the details.

That's terrible. That's almost as bad as our school giving out bibles to kids for free.

Work against it... at the least wear shirts with an upside down cross. <_<

If it's funded it's possibly a bit shady... My school had a Christian club thing, not funded though.

I went to a public school in Sydney, and they held special assemblies for Christmas and stuff. I was like, people, this is a PUBLIC school.

Thankfully I managed to miss lots of them by hiding in the darkroom and working on photography. :D

I remember a "Christian" club that started out in my ol' high school. The union actually got wind of the hold deal and shut it down completely. It was unethically being promoted by management...a Vice Principle was promoting the conversion of students on school property and their by using is power to manipulate others. The local Baptists, Born-Again churches were all fuming about the Union and its so called "anti-Christian" policies. **cough**

Thank you UNION!

People used to hand out little orange bibles outside of my high-school but the school authorities tried to run them off I think...

Inverted crosses are associated with inflammatory-religious cults that propose alternative worship to "God," more of the "evil" persuasion  at least from my experience. Again though; there could be anti-Christian pagan uses too or others I am unaware of.

Might I suggest the Bad Religion logo? Get a BR shirt :D

Hey!I have this logo as a big budge! It rocks!!

Concerning school and religion I'll only say that where I live religion is obligatory unless you have another religious faith than the official. We are tought this fucking propaganda since we're 8 years old till we finish school!I've thought about getting rid of this subject by stating that I'm an atheist but a)i doubt that it'll work and b)I really enjoy making my teachers nervous and rapidly change topic when they cannot answer my questions. Not real queries; just to make the class wonder and think. The books are ridiculous!Very funny I'm telling you. However I strongly believe it should be abolished, cos it's destructive for some poor idiot students. And mind you that religion is compulsory for every single public (and private I guess) school of the country.

When i was at high school these people called the gideons came and gave everyone one of these small red bibles. They've done it for decades, trying to indoctrinate teenagers.

Why wouldn't that be legal? Especially if they do their own fundraisers to provide money to buy these jerseys.

yeah a few years ago when i went to another school they had a "fellowship of christian athletes" but the school wasnt involved with it, other than they met on school grounds. but if i were you i would constantely humiliate and criticize it during every public display.

I think you are referring to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. They are a club which meets in a classroom and they pray among other 'christian' things. It's not legal if they are being supported by tax money, but if they are raising money themselves and conducted activities either before or after school time, I don't see how it would be illegal.

May I suggest starting an Atheist Club or a Flying Spaghetti Monsterism club :)

It gets the bible beaters to freak out though.

Also, the inverted cross is mostly an aggression towards Christian beliefs, and can represent everything from Satanism to Atheism.

Although some Christians would say those are the same thing. ;)

i was about 12 or 13 at the time and was not aware of what religion has done/does, all i knew is that church was boring and was glad that my family didnt go. but if there was one at my school today you bet i would.

That is useful if you want to spur conflict with fundies on school grounds, but that doesn't seem universaly useful...

The pope used to like inverted crosses too...

Indeed; anyone that doesn't worship their "God" is under the influence of the devil!.

Yeah the Gideons, we had them too. They handed out free bibles. The 'hard' kids threw them in the bin as they walked out trying to prove some kind of point.
Mine's in my drawer somewhere...
I'm not part of any organised religion nor do i intend to, but i believe in God, or something anyway.
