I have noticed that when I engage in a political discussion with someone, and say that I am a Marxist or Communist, they seem to regard you as some kind of twisted individual. At school I have gotten remarks such as:
"Get out of our country!"
"Commie Bastard!" & "Damn Commie"
"You stand for everything America was founded to fight"
"Terrorist" (which I still don't understand)
Some people say that Stalin tainted the reputation of communism. This probably contributed, but I think the schools should play a more active roll in promoting tolerance. They make communism sound like fascism in our history books. The people need to embrace communism before it can become truly successful. But, this is exactly what capitalists fear, the working class becoming educated enough to think for themselves and read the Manifesto or some other piece of revolutionary literature. What does everyone else feel about this?

I understand what you mean. I've been persecuted for my beliefs too; but I'm all better now, because I love my Uncle Sam, and I love Big Brother. And Big Brother loves me! :)

And now, to get serious. Yeah. That happens to me a lot too. I get beat up by kids at school sometimes for it; thankfully not so much this year. I was hurt a lot last year because of the rush of nationalism during 9/11; I also look sorta arabic. So I got the crap beat out of me last year. But I'll get back at them all someday, and kill them slowly and painfully.

Stand up for yourself. drop them to the ground with a kick straight to the face or something. please, it depresses me to hear that a comrade is getting his ass kicked by a bunch of rednecks.

You ask why Americans dislike Communism, the answer is simple, my friend. Ever since the mid-20th century when the Communist bloc included the Soviet Union, China, North Korea, South Vietnam, Cuba, and when other nations were undergoing Socialist revolutions, Americans felt threatened. Therefore, the Americans supported several right-wing dictatorships to phase out Communism, placed embargos on Communist nations, threatened Communist nations with nuclear arsenal, and went to war with some of these nations. The Americans also tried to (and that is not to say that they failed) portray any for of Socialism as something very bad and as a direct threat to the American way of life. Today, America has been quite succesful phasing out Communism and 'brainwashing' Americans to turn them into narrow-minded, Capie, Bush-lovers. That is why your ignorant classmates hate it when you express your ideological and political allegiance, they feel threatened.

US bourgeois class did everything possible in order to spread the false information about Communism, particularly about Soviet Union and the system of the socialistic states during the Cold War. American masses were brainwashed and taught the subjective lessons by the US capital.
What do US history books say about Soviet Union and communism itself? Complete bullshit. The authors of such kind of subjective literature understand that masses will gain new knowledge and consider this knowledge the true one after reading their fairy tails. That is how it goes , that is why they are successful at their little and coward ideological struggle.
What has to be done? Nothing , but the true political education, you have to teach masses the truth, in order to defend your beliefs.

The cold war was not just lies about socialism but lies about stalinism.
Stalinist themselves are liars the USSR was not socialist but an anomaly caught between capitalism and socialism moving back to capitalism as soon as it broke from Marxism.

Funny stuff happened today.
My step-brother (13) came home from intermediate he is in the 2nd Form/ 8th year.
And the teacher was going on about celebrations and Guy Fawkes came up "the teacher then said that it is a good celebration as it celebrates democracy as a communist tried to blow up parliament"
My step brother then yelled out communists are cool or good or something like that, and she was like "no they are not"
so he goes "what about Lenin? he was good"
to what she replied "Lenin was an evil man"
Now I know fuck all about Guy Fawkes, but was he a communist? I take it from the whole story he was an anarchist at that...

Most of the people (in western societies) have been brain washed into believeing that any form of communism is bad.
And even if they wern't most people (everywhere) are in life for themselves. They don't give shit about the masses, even though they are in them. The three areas of humanity are left wing, masses, and right wing. most of the masses lean towards right wing. Which is why we need revolution.

in america its down to sheer ignorance and brainwashing during the cold war. the american way of life is threatened and they do not want the proleterian class to have a voice or be noticed or to even learn about communism.
here in britain it is mostly because of the new government. labour became more right wing and police started beating the shit out of leftist rioters. now people wear "CCCP" jumpers but dont give a rat's ass about communists as their way of life is also threatened by communism.
i get taunted in school for being communist, i dont really get the turd beaten out of me but people say "you're a communist, communism fell - you suck you asshole" i say "well you're just a damn ignorant bastard arent you, thinking communism is dead, that capitalism is rightful", they say "communism fell...",again. i say "fuck you *****" or get my ass kicked. people seem to think that because of stalin theat communism is evil. people think that evin Lenin was evil, my goodness no, he was maybe one of the best men who ever lived. capitalism is evil i try to tell them and they use seemingly idiotic arguements against that i cant reply to because they are absolute shit and hypocritical
FUCK CAPITALISM!

An American one. And it's more like this:

hillbilly: oh yeh! Groucho Marx is kewl!
hillbilly2: wait; you talkin' bout' that germin guy! Hahaha! He sux! America is the best! We should nuke I-Rack!!
I find it hard to believe that anyone would come kick you ass for likeing communism.
It's happened. I wouldn't say they 'kicked my ass'. They didn't do anything TOO serious. But they did hurt me, badly.
Stand up for yourself. drop them to the ground with a kick straight to the face or something.
They make sure to either hurt me quickly, or off school grounds. Aside from the fact that I am not physically strong, I do not want to risk getting suspended. Yes, in my school you get suspended for defending yourself. In fact, if someone beats you up REALLY bad; you get suspended just for partaking in the fight. How dumb is that!?
please, it depresses me to hear that a comrade is getting his ass kicked by a bunch of rednecks.
I don't like it anymore than you do.

I remember High School, I remember being called a communist by my peers and teachers and not knowing why. See, they had just a little bit more information on communism than I did, so when asked for our opinions I gave my ideas on solutions to present day problems. My solutions were at the time, very communist, although I had no idea. As far as I knew, we hated the communists, I had no idea what communism even entailed.
I grew up in a very small community and it was very anti-Communist. Large retirement community, red neck and not a very large educated class to pull ideas from locally. So the years of propaganda trickle through to these people as - Americans hate communist. And they believe it, I hated them too even though I was one in flesh and thought. I saw movies like Red Dawn, Russians were always trying to kill us, Russia had 2 nuclear missiles pointed at my town..ect..ect Russian subs might land our beaches.
Fear, national pride, little education on the subject and movie propaganda and proletariat repeating propaganda like saying, "You dirty commie. Pinko Bastard." All this has added up to Americans hating communist.

Ppl the great mass of ppl with real power(western bourgeoise) are listening to the tv and thats where they get their ideas about politics and other nations.
The tv is in american hands and if someone is 9 years and he sees captain america or rambo kicking evil communist ass , he will regard it as normal(communist evil/america good)thats why.
But I have never been beaten for my ideas only some teachers and students yelling and calling me crazy for my ideas. And now the funny thing comes, i always know enough arguments to say why socialism is better than captalism(like the question why is it ok with you that an american dies of fatness and his neighbour of hunger) The most ppl just having a shock that the half of the things they learned isnt true are ignoring it, they just walk away. One of my teachers said at the end when i won my discussion with him: communism hasnt worked anywhere. Then i told that the USSR was pretty succesfull. He answered: Communism is evil and thats end of discussion!
So you see that its in their minds that communism is evil. I mean in the sort of way that communist hate is a basic thinking for them, like 1+1=2. The ppl in the western world are brought up with the tv. If someone makes a rapport on why the CIA is a shit organisation they just make a film on it. You see that right now. In the gaming world there are now many games coming some of them for free. With names like :america's army/Terrorism:fight for freedom and that sort of things. If that isnt brainwashing.

Brain washing can be over come.
A freind of my brothers was brought up in a real right wing enviroment, he 'knew' that communism was bad and when he was young and saw some signs saying "what would Marx think about today" (or something along those lines) he was told that Marx was the person who invented communism, thus he 'knew' Marx was bad. Then he went to Uni and met people and read things. and is now as left wing as You and I. He father hates him however.

my school is tolerant of communism. whenever i get into a political discussion, the conservative against me will say things like, "communism doesnt work" or "it only works on a small scale" or "they tried it and it failed."
they are merely ignorant. i have taken it upon myself to inform them. they do listen. and they have never tried to beat the crap out of me.
and it is great because they teach communism in world geography. they explain the ideas of communism and the history of russia and that allows the students to see that stalin was a dictator, not a communist.

Drake, I wonder if your folks would support you to the extent of filing a lawsuit against the school system for permitting "bullying"?
As you may be aware, "bullying" is a "sensitive" subject to American school systems these days...and, of course, here in the U$A, EVERYBODY is sensitive about money...as in PUNATIVE DAMAGES.
On the other hand, if your parents think that it's ok for you to get beat up for being a communist, maybe an ACLU lawyer would help you for free. Also, there may be a "Child Protective Service" agency in your area that would help.
Assholes will always be with us (dammit!)--but, once in a while, you can make the fuckers PAY in SERIOUS COIN. Wouldn't that be s w e e t !

I don't get beat up very often for bein a commie. I do get a lot of critisism. Lots of "DAMN RED!" " GO FUCK STALIN". My teachers are veryanti-commie. My spanish teacher was talking about how cubans have to leave cuba because they don't get any food. My other gives me dirty looks when we discuss communism in class.

This morning I was giving some more thought to Drake's situation and came up with another strategy.
Drake's school sounds a good deal worse than most...so maybe the best thing would be to operate as if you were living in German-occupied territory during World War II.
You only talk politics with people you TRUST; you very carefully and slowly "feel out" new acquaintences to see how receptive they are to your ideas. You NEVER talk about politics in class or where a lot of people can hear you.
Instead, you spread your ideas "underground"; a leaflet left where others will see it, a poster stuck up when no one is around, a "non-communist" joke that puts authority in a poor light, etc.
This may be kind of "unsatisfying"--it's more FUN to rip the bastards to their face--but you can't ever tell when "underground" propaganda will "strike a chord" and support will "suddenly" emerge when you least expect it.
Good luck!!

Here in the "Land of Freedom", Finland, Communism has very much sympathizers in our schoolsystem. I've never been insulted or anything for being a Communist, teachers are interested from communism, our history book calles Karl Marx: "Defender of the rights of the oppressed", Many people wear Che shirts and thus I got elected as a member of the Students Committee, although and because I am a Communist. Some people call me "Jaakko(my name) the Left-wing represantitive"
I have sympathy for those who get oppressed at their school for beeing socialist.

the ignorance and hatred directed towards communism and marxism came from the yanks degrading communism because they were basically shitting themselves in the 50's because they thought their capitalist way of life would inplode right before their eyes and people would see the good side of communism. ever since all that McCarthyism took place in consumerist america in the 50's other capitalist nations have joined in the fight to make communism look like the work of the devil and all that shit.
i too get heckled abit at school. i once did an oral presentation on che in english class. afew politically aware pupils were shaking their heads but my teacher is very open minded so that was cool. alot of people take the piss coz i talk about marx and che alot. i never get beat up or anything though. the worst someone has called me is a dirty fucking left-winger!!

Common people are unable to understand communism an that's why by using a totally unscientific reasoning they classify communism as evil on earth..The american imperialists spread the theory throghout the world that they have the perfect political system and that communism is the enemy of human rights...Besides,peopletry to see only the dark side, the unavoidable errors made by the commuist regims..

Getting beaten for political views? I thought the U$ was founded on principles of tolerance... So much for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I often get into heated arguments with right wingers saying things like "Communism promotes mediocrity" To which I usually reply " Yeah how mediocre that the USSR had the first satellite, first man in space, produced aircraft that we still can't really match or duplicate" It seems that most people don't even understand what Communism or Socialism is.
It's just bad marketing by the Capitalists. Hang tough man.

yea. I dont get beat up at my school, mostly because i am fuckin huge. (almost 6 ft tall, 200 lbs.). But i get alot of shit. I get things tacked to my locker, saying "go back to russia" people tell me all the time to get out of "their country". but my teachers are pretty oopen minded. They too are sick of teaching ignorant white capitalist *****y kids, so they feel for me. The administration, however, is just witing for me to fuck up. Liike i almost got expelled for calling a teacher a fuckin'cappie. But he called me a dirty red. so i got off the hook. But you cant always expect everyone to always be on your side. Just wait. Here's my situation.
I'm in the heart of Texas, high-school, GWB USA.
However, I stand up and speak my mind - and speak it loudly!! I work my ass to crush misconceptions and embarass ignorance, which there is much of. People in my school are very open to such concepts though - unlike most people who ask sarcastically, some here actually inquire on what a "communist" actually advocates.
And that's always a good thing.
But dont' get me wrong, I get my fair share of those who stay "leave if you don't like it", and I usually just laugh - cause the whole concept coming form an American just furthers my hypocricy theory.

capitalists know what would happen if the masses learned the truth about communism, and its advantages so they've spread so much brain washing propaganda that the u.s citizens have lost their ability to think for themselves. but like life socialism will find a way, its survival of the righteous like survival of the strongest. in the end history will prove it right.

I nearly swayed a Libretarian to the Left today, that was a happy moment. We were talking about how the American System became more Democratic for a "Document Based Question" we were writting. I convinced her that although the United States become more Democratic politically, Economically it became more opressive. For once, people agreed to my leftist views.
I'm very happy.
