Me, I listen to mostly anarchist punk rock but sometimes I like to listen to non-left music such as metal or even some Nazi black metal like Burzum or Graveland.

As long as you don't agree with the lyrics it should be fine right?

I don't think Ive ever laughed harder.

I listen to so much music, and I'm only sure of the political views of those artists who make it apparent. If an artist were blatantly nazi, racist, etc. I doubt I'd even give them a listen.

Wrong. If you buy records by nazi bands you are helping to fund their twisted ideas.

I take it that this prick (BRM) has now been banned?

He was banned for listening to a Nazi band?

Should I be restricted to OI for listening to the Pro-Capitalist Cocksparrer?

I never listen to Nazi trash.

I do however listen to non-political music.

Opeth, In Flames, Mastodon, Nile, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.

They are the best band ever!

And I also listen to real nazi music...well, I laugh most of the time, but hey I still listen. ;) I sure hope he was not banned for listening to Graveland and Burzum.

I think he may of been banned for his post on black people.

As for Oi, there are plently of left wing Oi bands to listen to such as The Oppressed & the Angelic Upstarts. Why anyone who posts on a left wing forum would want to listen to right wing bands is beyond me.

I think anyone who openly admits to supporting Nazis or their ideas in any way, shape, or form, should not only be banned from this site, but should also be banned from the world in general.

I don't agree when it comes to the "baned from the world part", but I do agree that such people shuden't be aloed to post anywhere besides the Oposing Ideologis forum. And wasn't it this guy who claimed that black people "smell bad" ?

No, I meant OI as in the Opposing Ideologies forum on this board.

And the reason I'd want to listen to Cocksparrer when I know they are pro-Capitalist is because, well, Cocksparrer plays some of the best music ever put on a record. I don't feel the same about the Oppressed, or the Angelic Upstarts (who I'm pretty sure aren't remotely left wing), or any other band really.

So what should we do with this filth?

What do you think they'd do with us if they had the chance?

You've never really listened to the Upstarts then.
If they aren't left wing what were they doing playing at the IWCA benefit gig the other month? If you've never heard of the IWCA before it was the party formed by members of AFA who the Upstarts also supported.

Formed in South Shields, England in 1977, the Angelic Upstarts was one of the period's most politically-charged and thought-provoking groups; though technically a skinhead band, their records attacked the racism and fascism so prevalent throughout the skinhead community, and while also technically a punk unit, their music quickly evolved beyond the movement's limited scope.

The Angelic Upstarts were led by the rather nasal vocalist Mensi (born Thomas Mensforth), whose impoverished childhood became a frequent lyrical touchstone; along with a highly-fluid line-up which initially comprised guitarist Mond, bassist Ronnie Wooden and drummer Sticks, the group debuted with the 1979 single "Murder of Liddle Towers," a scabrous attack on police brutality. The record caught the attention of Sham 69's Jimmy Pursey, who produced their debut album Teenage Warning, which, like its 1980 follow-up We Gotta Get Outta This Place, roundly ridiculed the oppressive policies of Margaret Thatcher while offering an outpouring of sympathy for the working class.

As the Upstarts' popularity surged, so did the levels of violence at their live shows; they became mortal enemies of National Front fascist supporters, who railed against the band after first misinterpreting their leftist songs as supportive of their cause. At the same time, the band's music was becoming more complex and accomplished; by 1983's Reason Why?, the strongest Angelic Upstarts record, Mensi's songwriting skills had become tighter and more melodic, even branching out into reggae and folk, while the group's base broadened with the addition of keyboards and saxophones.

After issuing the inflammatory single "Brighton Bomb," a celebration of the IRA's attempt to assassinate the Conservative cabinet, the band released the LP The Power of the Press; lackluster sales triggered their break-up not long after. In 1988, the Angelic Upstarts briefly reformed; in 1992, they reunited again, this time long enough to cut an album, Bombed Out. Mensi subsequently arose as a leader of the Anti-Fascist Action group. They managed to reunite occasionally, cutting a live album for Mordam Records (2001's Live from the Justice League) and even revisiting the United States for their first live show in almost twenty years. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Would you call Carnivore (pre Type O Negative), Type O Negative anti-leftist?

Sorry Bazza, I don't know why I wrote that, you're right. I want to say I was thinking of someone else, but that sounds like a cop out.

But still, I stand by my point, regardless of politics, I get more enjoyment out of Cocksparrer's "Shock Troops" than I would out of the Upstarts "2 million voices".

I suppose Wagner falls in this category, although personally it is the power of the music, not how the power is being directed, or who for, that interests me. Clapton to a lesser extent, I just like his guitar.
