View Full Version : Would you live differently...

Lets just hypothetically say that there is a God, and he revealed and proved himself as so in some manner that was indeniably convincing to the worldwide population. With that in mind...after having the knowledge of a God existing; do you think you would live your life differently? More virtuous, or what have you? I'm not saying that this God supports the morals and such of any existing religion, just that a God representing himself, with no other offered information as to how to live, has presented himself. Would you strive to achieve respect and admiration in his eyes? Would you live exactly the same seeing as how he didn't offer any advice on how he would wish you to live? What would you do?

I would pretty much carry on living as I had done. Since the god in question does not promote any sort of moral system, and I wouldn't obey it even if he did*, there's no reason for me to not carry non living the way I do now. Although I would have to buy a weapon of some sort, as I reckon the fundies would go wild at having their god revealed and I don't exactly want to be burned alive.
(* Just because one creates something does not mean one has total say over it's actions - especially if it is capable of making it's own decisions)

No, I would not act differently except for one thing.
I would finally have the chance to kill god.

It would certainly be a disastrous discovery; I would suppress it if I could.
If the word "got out", the fundies would light their torches, grab their pitchforks, and do their very best to drag us back to barbarism overnight.
That's not a risk I would want to run.

What the fuck is this "if I could" shit? You've been doing it since June 1985.

Yes; let God out of the box RS
Really though; I would have a lot of questions for our formerly inactive "God."
Mostly about any "great plans" that might be on "God's" mind.
Also; why "God" created such a fucked up world (I know personally "God" hasn't been around in my "time of need") and if "God" didn't have a damn good explanation...
...I'd tell "God" to fuck off :P

If "god" dies; does that mean reality will not exist? Maybe superstition will die ;)

But he'd send us to hell for all eternity....
Its one hell of a good thing he doesn't exist.

I actually never even though about that. It would be one interesting fiasco to see what religious folk would do at having absolute proof of their God.
I would finally have the chance to kill god.
YIKES!
Why? god's a pussy who can't even defeat iron chariots.
LOL! To be honest I have absolutely no idea what that statement means, but definitely got a good laugh.
But he'd send us to hell for all eternity....
Well....in this pretend session God doesn't represent any existing religious beliefs, so lucky for all of us; there wouldn't be one. We're good for now! ;)
I think I'd be with 313 in wanting some answers, but then again; who wouldn't want to question God?

True; since you don't know us at all; that is a completely valid statement.
Do you know for sure what "God" would be? If not, you have no way to know our reaction and if so; how can you tell? Pure imagination?

If there was a god the first thing I would do is get a black bloc started and head down to where ever this idiot was and lob the first stone to his head. In both theory and practice god is everything and man and women are nothing if he really did exist it would be necessary to abolish him. :)

I would refuse to even consider that, if it is true then i would convert to satanism. Where was god for the Jews? Why would any person give their life to a conceited deity, who rules with fear? Fascism anyone? God is a fascist. At least satan may be a bit more fun ya know? Why would he do his enemy's bidding? Some guy posted something like that here on revleft. In the words of Emiliano Zapata "prefiero morir en mis pies, que vivir en mis rodillas" in other words, id rather die on my feet than live on my knees...

Why would you immediately assume Christian mythology is correct?
Assuming Satan exists too; maybe god was a nice guy and made the world all spiffy but was never omnipotent... then Satan locked god up in hell.. now the world is fucked up!
See; I can rationalize mumbo-jumbo too! ;)
