 Does anyone here believe George Carlin is one of the few "Americans" to have figured it all out?

His views on Religion (from You're all Diseased)

In the bullshit department, a businessman can't hold a candle to a clergyman....cause I gotta tell you the truth, when it comes to bullshit, big time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exagerrated claims....Religion.

Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told! Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people, that there is an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of 10 things he does not want you to do, and if you do any of these 10 things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke, scream and cry, forever and ever, till the end of time......But he loves you

He loves you and he needs money!!! He always needs money....he's all powerful, all perfect all knowing and all wise, just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes and they always need a little more.

Now, you talk about a good bullshit story.....HOLY SHIT

  Okay, one more.........

his views on American schools: (from Complaints and Grievances)

Here is another pack of low-grade morons who ought to be locked into portable
toilets and set on fire. These people with bumper stickers that say" we are the proud parents of an honour student from the Midvale academy, or whatever innocent sounding name has been assigned to the indocrination centre where your child has been sent to be stripped of their individuality and turned into an obedient soul-deal conformist member of the american consumer culture.

But, aren't most American comedians self-righteous atheist-libertarians?

No, but I do know the type you're talking about (Bill Mahr comes to mind).

I for one think he is fucking hilarious, and I have many of his sets on my computer right now!

Many things he says can be construed as communistic, but he himself is more of a nihlist with leftist tendancies -- that's by his own description:

"I figured out years ago that the human species is totally fucked and has been for a long time. I also know that the sick, media-consumer culture in America continues to make this so-called problem worse. But the trick, folks, is not to give a fuck. Like me. I really don't care. I stopped worrying about all this temporal bullshit a long time ago. It's meaningless."

But come on, "I often wonder if Sammy Davis ate Junior Mints." = GOLD

I'm a pretty big George Carlin fan. Some of his ideas are pretty lame, but all in all he's hilarious. I got to see him live a couple of years ago. It was really good.

Bill Maher has his moments. He's gotten really self righteous lately though.

So I'm not the only one noticing this? He has gotten extremely self righteous, as well as just being an idiot...

On Friday's show he agreed with deporting those who said things like "death to the troops", etc, and also agreed with deporting and/or arresting those who "incited violence" (which would be saying "death to xxxx" or something along those lines). That's WAY too fucking authoritarian for me. So someone can't be deported for saying "death to the Bush administration" (because Maher HATES the Bush Administration) because that's just freedom of speech, but for saying "death to America", you're automatically labeled a terrorist and should be deported or arrested for "inciting violence"? Please, you're not fooling anyone, Bill. I don't think ANYONE should be deported for just voicing their opinion, no matter how twisted it may be.

I hate religious folk. I hate Republicans. Do I want to arrest and deport them all? FUCK NO! He is just wanting his opinion to be law. "I don't legislate taste" BULLSHIT! I think that wanting to deport those who speak out against the troops and say "attack America" and whatnot is definately legislating your taste.

He also said that the only people who needed to be racial profiled were young arab men and that whites and others shouldn't be profiled. It was weird, because the ex-2nd in command of Homeland Security disagreed with Maher on this and said that either all people need to be scanned, or none at all, I actually agreed with the 2nd in command of DHS, and not Maher.

Maher really sucks ass lately. I don't think I will continue to watch "Real Time" just because Maher is such a dick.

Right wing Politician: "I want to take away your freedom in favor of war and profit! Elect me!"

Left win politician: "I want to take away your freedom in the name of children and education! Elect me!"

Same shit, different party. Maher just became a whole lot more of a rich, self righteous and self claimed "leftist", although totally agreeing with deporting and/or arresting anyone who *dares* to speak against America or it's troops, or incite violence against the American government, because, *gasp* that's just going to far! Maher isn't even a leftist, he's just a neo-liberal loser who thinks he'd be the best as president or in a position of power, but he's so glad he isn't because he knows he would fuck up too. He prefers to sit on the sidelines crituquing the players instead of actually playing.

Not to mention the man believes in God, while at the same time calling Religion a "fairy tale". Hey, guess what Bill, where do you think the idea of a God came from!?

/end_rant. Sorry.

It seems that Blair has put his ideas into practice. Link (http://www.communistleague.org/wpa/stories/wpa200508-london.html)

He's been saying this for years! Racist filth.

You're right, he is a bourgeois liberal. He upholds capitalism, just thinks it needs some "tweaks".

Definitely my favorite quote by Carlin:

I frankly don't give a fuck how it all turns out in this country - or anywhere else, for that matter. I think the human game was up a long time ago (when the high priests and traders took over), and now we're just playing out the string. And that is, of course, precisely what I find so amusing: the slow circling of the drain by a once promising species, and the sappy, ever-more-desperate belief in this country that there is actually some sort of "American Dream," which has merely been misplaced."

- George Carlin
