Just wondering what everyone thought the best biography of Che's life was?

I think that the best biography of Che is the John Lee Anderson one. Read it, it's really good!

Agreed. It was highly detailed, but i don't think it should just be left at that. Reading near fact books on Che, or his own diaries, and then putting the evidence together since so much is diverse. Like how many meanings Che has, how many ways he died, its all so distorted in a way. I suggest the selftitled Che as well, with the Death of a Revolutionary and Motorcycle Diaries to add on. MD isn't so much a biography, but it helps with understanding his life, and the Death of a Revolutionary is a highly detailed account of his last missions, written by Richard Harris, but assissted by John Lee Anderson too.

Death of a Revolutionary is one hell of a good book! Thanks comrade, I didn't know that Anderson had helped Harris in the making of the book. Thanks again comrade MoscowFarewell!

I enjoyed his diaries.

It seems more... or a personal account... and less of a glossed over romantic account.

I recommend Motorcycle Diaries.

Just finsihed reading John Lee anderson "A revolutianry life"
Excellent book, extrememly detailed, however it is very long about 800 pages so you better have some time on your hands.

Anyone read the bolivian diaries?

Cheers.
I'm currently reading Jorge Castaneda's "Companero", I would recommend this highly. The writer in my opinion does not seem biased either way, and writes an extremely well sourced and direct account of Che's life.
Thanks for the other suggestions, The Motorcycle Diaries is on my too read list. After that I think I'll give Che a rest and read something on another topic.

So far i've read Andrew Sinclair's Che biography, but i only got that one cause i was strapped for cash at the time  I'll definitely read John Lee Anderson's one though now.
The Motorcycle Diaries was great, i've read it a few times, couldn't help crying at the end though, mixed feelings of anger (against his murderers  ) and sadness :( ...
The Bolivian Diary is good also, however it lacks the romantic idealogy of the motorcycle diaries. Which is of course understandable being that he had to write quickly to avoid capture. What a great guy though...ahhh

Buy John Lee Anderson's as soon as you can. It was the very first biography I read about Che and it just blew me away. The Motocycle Diaries was awesome too but I have to read his Bolivian diary <_<
