why do you hate the homeless?

Where does it say that I hate the homeless? No where. You're just making assumptions.

The truth is that most, not all, homeless people in the USA are either addicted to some form of narcotic or have a mental illness.

Actually, a large propotion of the homeless in the US are war veterns who did not receive the treatment they needed. If these are the people with the "mental illness" you speak of, shame on you.

The homeless of America are a product of our neglect as a population and of the system of capitalism. They are not to be abandoned as "lost causes". This is a very pathetic and inhumane position to take.

It bewilders me that you even considered making that post RAWV...

or have a mental illness. mad.gif

and that upsets you? that they have a mental illness? Maybe we could castrate them like the Nazis did.

The word lumpenproletariat refers to small time oppressors like drug dealers and gangsters, not homeless people. Homeless people are not oppressors. What you are doing is like kicking a disabled child.

Fuck you, RAWV. From the sounds of it you have never even come close to being homeless.

You're the one who stinks. It's the odour of an asshole.

I don't see how you could know this to be true.

Nor do I see what difference it makes if it were true. Is drug addiction or a mental illness grounds for death by malnutrition?

The ordinance is pointless, of course. Hungry people will beg no matter what the law says -- either someone will give them money to buy food or they will go to jail for a short period of time and be fed.

The motive behind the ordinance is utterly reprehensible -- tourists need "protection" from American reality or they won't come to our precious Aquarium.

It seems to me that this topic belongs in Opposing Ideologies.

Many are, certainly...and they need treatment, not police repression.

Have you ever helped the homeless? Or do you step over them on your way to Walmart with your platinum credit card?

And mental illness or drug addiction requires society at large to deal with the problem, not exacerbate it!

Are you proposing they be put into mental institutions? Do they not get a say?

Are there no prisons, no shelters, no workhouses?[/Eboneezer Scrouge] :D

Really though. THere's little reason why people actually are homeless and live on the street. There are many places they could go, but they would rather sit on the street and harrass people so they can buy alcohol.

I no longer give money to the homeless. I give them food (but wouldn't ya know, half the time they don't accept! I wonder why!).

Now I just avoid them on my way to my country club, where I kick back and drink the blood of the feeble, and then beat my caddy to death.

Perhap's so. Or maybe so, it's a fancy-way to say're work's on a farm, but hide's it to yer hippie-middle class friend's with an excuse of, "country club"...in which you go to, early-in the mornin', neden on my woodstep, hufh'!? With workin' clothes, too!? What a real country club. There may be a possibility that the homeless think's you have dubious food, and some have honor-complexes of acceptin' food, 'cept for money they'll just say it's "spare-change" ;)

I think the homeless are screwed so much that most deal with by making a pilgromage to the liquor store with the little money than can beg. I think we ought to organize them by telling them to go plot in those fancy neighborhoods with million dollar house. When the police go and move them, they should burn the houses down.

how would burning down houses solve their homelessness?

i think he means burn the houses of the rich, but that would make no sense, le people. they could just take over the houses, which are large enough for hundreds of them.
