Dear comrades,

Anti-Zionist scholar and pro-Palestinian activist Norman Finkelstein (http://www.normanfinkelstein.com/) is under attack yet again. You may have read about him in Noam Chomsky's "Understanding Power" in the section regarding the "fate of an honest intellectual" in the United States.

Please take a moment and send an email or call the offending bookstores to help out an honest comrade:

From his website:

THE BLACKLISTING BEGINS...

These bookstores have rescinded invitations to host an event for Beyond Chutzpah:

1) Harvard Bookstore, 1256 Mass Ave, Cambridge MA 02138

Harvard Bookstore contacted University of California Press and scheduled an event for September 29, 2005.

The bookstore has now rescinded the invitation. You might want to express your opinion of this courageous defense of free speech and the marketplace of ideas. Email: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Telephone: 1-800-542-READ, 1-617-661-1515.

2) Barnes and Noble, 122 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011

The new Barnes and Noble superstore at DePaul University in Chicago contacted University of California Press and scheduled an event for September 2005.

It subsequently rescinded the invitation on the orders of the corporate headquarters. However, B&N will host an event for Alan Dershowitz's new book on Israel. You might want to express your opinion of this intellectual consistency. Email: [email protected], [email protected].com; Telephone: Donna Cobb (author promotion), 1-212-633-4089 and Jeff Penque, 908-991-2153.

Fight the blacklist!

Register your outrage!

Urge your local bookstore to host an event for Beyond Chutzpah!

This is a disgrace.

I also urge people to email or phone the bookshops in protest.

Praise For The Book

"A very solid, important and highly informative book. Norman Finkelstein provides extensive details and analysis, with considerable historical depth and expert research, of a very wide range of issues concerning Israel, the Palestinians, and the U.S."

-- Noam Chomsky,
Institute Professor, M.I.T.

"The scholarship is simply superb. Finkelstein has clearly done his homework, and consulted and mastered a breathtaking range of material: primary sources and documents, scholarly works, reports old and new, correspondence with relevant individuals, and numerous other sources too. He has left no stone unturned."

-- Mouin Rabbani,
Contributing Editor, Middle East Report

"Accurate, well-written, and devastatingly important."

-- Daniel Boyarin,
Professor of Talmudic Culture, University of California at Berkeley"
