George Orwell is an author who wrote 1984. a book about the effects of the power hungry who do anything to control the land. especially by destroying evidence, history, and past documents. you can get a copy from kazaa. read it and ask yourself if one day our society will be on like 1984. where a poster saying "big brother is watching you" will be put up everywhere.

In answer to your question,
Yes, Earth will become very similar to that book. Except it will be one state instead of 3 three.

If the Stalinists/Nazis/other fascists like Ymir get their way, then yes.

The only problem Ymir is that you idiots won't get your way. Do you think that the people will just accept a Stalinist dictatorship?

CopperGoat,

With the recent decision of an appeals court (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1119-03.htm) regarding privacy, one might say that the USA is well on its way to Orwellville.

But there's more: The Information Awareness Office (http://www.darpa.mil/iao/index.htm) has plans for Total Information Awareness (http://www.darpa.mil/iao/TIASystems.htm), and that means exactly what it says: everything you do will be monitored and recorded, then subject to data-mining which tries to establish a pattern of behavior that indicates you're not toeing the Party line.

The only difference is that it won't be Jews, in the form of Goldstein, who will be scapegoated. US/Israeli relations are too important to the ruling class for that. However, Arabs could easily be the scapegoats. Already, Iraqi-Americans are set to be tracked (http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,842974,00.html), thus giving official credibility to racist paranoia.

Stalinists are not nazis! That was a totally ignorant statement.

The US has the strongest military in the world, the largest secret service in the world, and has control of the economy. Fuck, aren't we living it?

Well we have our perpetual war, and it is with a verb, terrorism. It allows us to have wars with countries like Iraq, who knows what is next.

In the book if you remember the neighbors and their kids that eventually turned their father in, who were essentialy Boy Scouts or T.I.P.S. operatives.

We have three classes, a large, poor, uneducated class, that gets all their information from the newspeak, all 4 or 5 channels saying the same thing with the same hype just different entertainers giving you the news. The middle class just going with the status quo of the upper class.

In the book you will notice that he says often, "There wasn't a law against it, you just didn't do it." I think that is getting more and more the case.

Doublespeak. Patriot Act, has a neat name covered in red white and blue. But you read it and it is all about removing everthing from america that made america what it was (as far as the limited freedoms and protections from the state were concerned).

In one news article, and this true, Bush was said to have UNSIGNED A TREAY. Not break a treay but unsigned a treaty. Doublespeak.

He never said that they were Nazi's. He was listing different authoritarian ideologies.

I think we are moving towards a 1984 type society, notice bush's regional wars to keep public support like they did in eurasia. interesting.

My best friend is russian , and when you hear his grandmotther's stories about the time stalin ruled russia , you will think that you are reading 1984 all over again .
it is not any thing like the bush administration , when the cia checks you e-mail for terorist activities , it was a time when your little son would rat about you for the KGB , that you grow tomatos for your ownuse and for the goverment's use , and you propably would have been executed for that . THAM MY FRIENDS , IS THE REAL 1984 , AND IT WASN'T ONLY WRITTEN , IT REALY HAPPENED .

Sinatra obviously either hasn't read 1984 or missed all the parts of it. There was more to the book that just the kids across the hall that turned their parents in and executions. Or is that all you got all of that whole book, which demonstrated about 15 different methods of controlling a society. Or are you just so Anti-Communist that you find any negative spin to use against Russia 1950.

What I wonder is WHY these stalinists always think THEY are the ones who will be the single dictator. It's funny. Really. I wonder what would happen if all the stalinists got in the same position. I bet you they would kill each other to obtain their power! lol. Comradeship..

1984 was a warning to us all.

do not ignore it. totalitarian states ruin humanity.

and, ymir, did you not read the beauty of having 3 equal world powers? one world power would have collapsed

dont forget 2+2=4 :)

everyone should read the book. if you do or not, you should watch the movie. what, you didn know there was a movie? yep, released in 1984
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0087803

the very fact that we have government offices known as:
the war dept.
office of homeland security
Information Awareness Office
(and the list goes on)

should serve as a warning. if you are interested in 1984 you should also find orwells essay which was meant as a foreward to the book, which was censored. you can probably find it on kazaa or on the net. also check out "animal farm" by the same author..

Drake,

I've noticed that aswell. They're also under the impression that after the revolution they will be hero worshipped for fighting for the cause.

Eventually we will cease to function as individuals and there will be no political or psychological need for 3 nations. 1984 is the scene of the war of States, once The State gains total power, it will take every possible action to stop division among the globe.

First of all i have read the book , wonderful . it is just that the stalinisst regeame seems to me very semyouler to what described in the book . stalinism is not communism , coummuism is perfect , it doesn't need terror to prtect it .

animal farm is also like the time of old stalin , especialy the saing that syas that " all animals are equal , but some animals are more equal " .
