Are any communists interested in studying economic history? I have recently read a few great books on economic history, and they have tought me a lot. I would like to recomend you Leo Huberman's Mans worldly goods (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0853450706/qid=1123698792/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-0792776-1480938?v=glance&s=books&n=507846), a quite easy and pedagogic - yet scientific - work on the transition from feodalism into capitalism. A true marxist classic and a great read!
On the same subject, I would also like to recomend Perry Anderson's Passages from Antiquity to Feudalism (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1859841074/qid=1123699201/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-0792776-1480938?v=glance&s=books) and his follow up Lineages of the Absolutist State (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/086091710X/qid=1123699174/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-0792776-1480938?v=glance&s=books). Also great marxian books on history.
