And the Rolling Stones have taken a rare break from sex odes to record an antiwar song called "Sweet Neo Con," chiding Condi Rice and Mr. Bush. "You call yourself a Christian; I call you a hypocrite," Mick Jagger sings.

It seems a shameless and exhausted attempt to make a final stamp on a music industry they've already shaped.
From the lyrics I've read, it hardly seems original. It isn't difficult to hurl the bush-bashing party line. We all know the score, and to hear the Rolling stones repeat it for us doesn't really excite me in any way.
Bottom line: They've jumped on the bandwagon. I suppose they're looking to die with a bang rather than a whimper..

That happened ages ago. Shit they must have been one of the first bands to get corporate sponsors for their tours, and then there's the whole knighthood thing, what a wanker.

Hey RA! I haven't heard it yet. Thanks! I'll have to check it out.
"Gimme Shelter" might be their defintive anti-war song though, -- a little lyrically sparse, but a classic.
yeah, they sold out musically long before he was knighted, though. "Shattered & "Emotional Rescue'" come to mind and consistently took a dive thereafter -- even earlier than that after Brian Jones got kicked out of the band late 60's. The stuff with Jones 1964-69 wasn't bad. Musicians have a tendency to rip eachothers sounds off -- but nothing really sounds like "Paint it Black". Some other pretty good ones: "19th Nervous Breakdown","Mother's Little Helper" -- very British invasion. and there's a few more....
