oh, yes. Revolution may very well be the next chapter in the history of Iran. Even Khomeni's grandson has joined the protests. Socialist? who knows? it was before the shah stole power, but as long as the people have freedom, it will be good.

Although I oppose monarchy and autocracy the Shah did take very important steps in the liberation of women while today Iran is, for women an apartheid state and one which executes homosexuals and is oppressive to secular people

Eric Margolis, writing for the "Toronto Sun," proposes that after the US attacks Iraq it will move on to its true taget: Iran.

"In the U.S., Pentagon hardliners are drawing up plans to invade Iran once Iraq and its oil are 'liberated.' They hope civil war will erupt in Iran, which is riven by bitterly hostile factions, after which a pro-U.S. regime will take power. If this does not occur, then Iraq-based U.S. forces will be ideally positioned to attack Iran. Or, they could just as well move west and invade Syria, another of Israel's most bitter enemies."

I believe that if there is any sort of regime change in Iran, whether it be a revolution or an attack from outside its borders, the USA will be deciding what happens there.

Perhaps what would be sucessfull for Iran would be an Autonymous Collective style of government where the role of leader is shared with past and trusted ones so as not to creare civil unrest, maybe then we can look at socialism working there without a bloodbath.

america? yea right! the islamic republic and the us govt are in this together. they kicked the shah out because he was getting too powerfull and had plans to take over the small, but oil rich countries of the PERSIAN gulf.
america will not get involved in iran, even rumsfled said this himself..... iranians dont need americans or anyone else to help us, we can kick this govt out our self.

My relatives on my dad's side are from Iran. They said they would still be there if the Shah was in power. Religion and government don't work, that's ALWAYS been the case. People need to start learning from history's past mistakes. Also, the US needs to mind their own fucking business, this pisses me off to no end. Was it the Mullahs that took 90% of the people of Iran's money? Because that's what happened to my grandfather.
