View Full Version : What happens to Cuba ...

Today I was talking to my German teacher about Cuba, and somehow we talked about what happens to Cuba after Fidel's dead.
He had the opinion that the US are going to take over Cuba and make it another capitalistic state ...
I can't and I don't want to believe so ... one thing is sure yet: after Fidel comes Raul, but then?
What do you guys out there think? What happens to Cuba after the Castro brothers are dead (which I hope won't happen in the next 100 years!)???

Fidel and Raul Castro, besides the rest of the Cuban Government, Iīm sure they have planned what eventually must be done.
I donīt think the U$ Government would try to invade Cuba in case they die. I mean, not in the actual global circumstances. It would end being another Vietnam.
The U$ would have to invent real credible arguments to take over that small but immensely important island.

Yep, Commie C 15, maybe it will all depend on the Cuban people.., if they still hold up the criminal embargo they are suffering for more than 40 years now(!!!)

If you ask anybody in Cuban, from dissenters to hardcore Castro-backers, they will give you a funny look and then say, "We'll have an election, stupid."
Seriously, my sister was in Cuba and the people there didn't seem to think there was any question about what would happen.

I often wonder such things myself.
*Note my topic "WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CASTRO DIES"
All that I can assume myself is that a system of graduation has been set in place and the most influential and trusted member of the party will step up to the podium after his death. As others have already stated however one of the deciding factors in the equasion will be how the Cuban people will respond to this and wether or not he who takes over will have the strength to keep the U.S. at bay. It has also become apparent as of recent that the Democratic system is not always the best as has recently been proven in Australia with Natash Stott-Despoja, giving everyone a vote can and will create in-fighting making the system unstable and volatile. Pol-pot was a failure however one thing that he and Castro have proven is that it is the Charismatic who will win in the long run. Not everyone is well educated or even has an opinion on politics, so to win these people over; who happen to be the mass population you need to reach them on thei level. If the people are unhappy with the leader the will throw them out as has been shown with Milosevic. If the leader is bad they will not remain. So what it is seeming to come down to is that reverting to Democracy in Cuba most likely will not, but could ruin the system. This would be done by a stolen vote staged by the CIA or some other anti-progress instituition. Cuba must retain the one man rule. Cuba will always need someone similar to Fidel, someone who posesses gall, intellect and charm.

Shut up Akbar, that so many people leave cuba is becuz of the US propaganda. They think they can live up theird reams in the US. But that ain't true. And like Marx said and which is said like a million times on this forum, socialism or communism has to be worldwoide to work.

Take away the criminal, illegal embargo of the coward U$ Governments, and you will see a very different situation...
As itīs written in some Cuban areas -something like- "tonight thousands of children will sleep in the street all around the world; non of them is Cuban".

I agree with Panamarisen If Cuba is so advance right now imagine It without an ilegal tool that the US has used for It's destructions but has only made Cuba stronger.Looks to me like Akbar is going to get kick out of the forum!

The second paragraph doesnīt deserve an answer, but well...
Cubans do have tv, cars, internet. And how lucky they are they ainīt got junk food! They got priorities, as the food for every little child and baby guaranteed, scholarization for all the childrens and young, one of the best and more advanced sanitary systems of the world, etc. I mean, they have well covered the really important things people need, and they are succesful in it even with the embargo.
But, specially, the most important point here is Cuba got the Revolution and the best people so far...

The way you speak makes it look like all or at least most Cubans want to leave the country, which is not true. Most of them prefer to live in it, even tho the embargo is not putting it easy for nobody there. Many of those who would like to go to the U$ simpathise with the right-winged Cubans that live in Miami (who, btw, make a lot of unfair propaganda against the Revolution since 1959), and some others just canīt stand living any more under the embargo (no wonder!!!).

America had nuclear weapons pointed at the USSR. The embargo isn't Castro's fault.

"The U$ would have to invent real credible arguments to take over that small but immensely important island."
LOL, I hope they come up with some better excuses than what they have for Iraq and North Korea! The States also sending 2,200 special forces commandos into Colombia to hunt down and kill leading members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). This is under the protection of the War on Drugs, apparently.
There are American soldiers all over the place, it's starting to look like world domination to me :( After Iraq, it'll be North Korea, then Colombia could get it, Cuba next? What about Argentina? They are supposed to have a nuclear weapons program, and they're also within 30 minutes to 1 hour of the United States (rockets). Well, let's just pay attention and do what we can in protesting these unjust wars.

Cuba have some of the finest medical research in the world. Their hospitals are impecable, education is free and the people are generally happy. There are very few who are actually "fleeing" Cuba, the U.S. media machine distorts the truth and over publicises the few who wish to leave. Cuba also has some of the lowest rates of homelesness in the world. In comparison with the U.S. and their thousands upon thousands of starving, imprisoned and opressed Cuba is a much better country, Also Cuba does not promote greed, there in not a single McDonalds in Cuba, the educational system therepromotes a brotherhood of man as opposed to looking out for yourself and furthering only yourself. In Cuba they strive for equality and understanding. The U.S. only dislike them because they oppose greedy U.S. policies. Akbar it would be helping yourself if you were to do some first hand research, do not believe everything in the American media. You my Comrade should look for other texts and sources before you start to criticize.

Raul isn't in great health either.
Indeed, while comrade Fidel has given up smoking and most drinking as well as adopting a healthy diet Raul still smokes and drinks quite heavily. Further, it should be noted Raul is quite the gunslinger, and he doesn't really want power much either.
I am really glad to see the support for socialist Cuba here. I was worried that some people here displayed some serious anti-Castro and anti-Cuba remarks, but many posts here have reaffirmed my faith that most socialists back Cuba as the great socialist state it is.
Oh, and the quote goes:
"300 million children on the street: not one of them Cuban!"
