The three members of Zona Marginal - Jhon J, Rico and Shaolin - come from the Aguas Blanca district of south-west Cali, a sprawling shantytown in Colombia's second city.
Poor and working class, this tough environment provides the backdrop to the hip hop group's lyrics, passionately devoted to peace and social justice.
The band explain that the area's largely Afro-Colombian, indigenous and mestizo population is at the sharp end of the neoliberal policies pursued by President Uribe Velez and the local political oligarchy.
Really really good stuff...(exept for people who don't understand spanish, cose then you wont be able to understand the political lyrics)
