First off, here is a previous interview with him; read it if you want some background information.

Anyways, I'll be interviewing him in about a week, and I realized that RevLeft would find this opportunity useful.

Basically, if you have a question you want to ask him, just post it here, and I'll use it in the interview. Then I'll post the replies in this thread.

1) What contact did you have with the anarchists and/or the CNT/FAI. If you had any, what was your general impression of them and their society?

2) Now that you can think back on it, what were some of the things the republican forces could have done differently in order to defeat Franco and the fascists?

3) I understand this is a rather general question, but what do you think of today's activists? What important things should they learn from history? Do you think the strategys and tactics that were once popular in the past can be applied today?

Do you feel that Spanish Civil War veterans get enough support from Gov't veterans affairs agencies? If not, what can we do to help?

What is your opinion of the famous people who participated in the Spanish Civil War, such as Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell? Do you think they were genuine or in it for themselves?

Have you been back to Spain?

And a strange question: Have you ever wondered what happened to anyone you met over there?

What did you think of the anarchists in Spain back then, and what do you think of them now?

Could you describe some of the social changes that you saw happening?

With one word; which word comes to mind when you think back of '36 Spain?

What did you absolutly hate about your time in the Spanish civil war?

Do you consider Stalin to be communist?

Have you been back to Spain?

To quote the article:

"In 1971, Osheroff returned to Spain -- in his words, "to walk again where we crawled in the past."

Found this other interview with this guy, quite interesting.

Love this piece:

People say, you are so full of violence. I don't understand that because to me legitimate anger is one of the highest forms of love. If one does not have the capacity to be angry about what is going on in the world, don't talk to me about love.

I really should have read the article.

- Have you ever tought about writing a book about your life and experiences?
- Do you think mankind's freedom is limited by some kind of "human nature"?
- Have you read George Orwell's "Homage To Catalonia"? If you did, what do you think about it and about Orwell's perception of the war?
- If you could go back in time, would you go to Spain (or somewhere else where you've gone) again?
- Can you give us some more details about how you were organized in the Spanish civil war?
- Did any of your ideas change because of being involved in the armed conflicts you've been involved in?

I guess that's it

And for JKP:
is this some trick so that you don't have to think about what you'll ask? :P

I'm just one man. I might miss asking a question, and regret it later. It will also provide a more balanced pallete of inquiry.

Did the radical leftists really kill conservatives and clergy in large numbers?

(and directed to RL members) How do you think the communists/anarchists got such recognation even though the participated in acts that more or less alienated them from whatever 'masses' were definable then. forced partisanship maybe?

JazzRemington

I'll email him and ask him about it.

Yes, but not large enough numbers.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I don't browse Chit Chat that often.

I still haven't done an interview with him. He lives somewhat far away from me, and I was planning that a friend would be able to take me. My friend was busy on the day of the interview so I had to cancel it.

Also, at the time there didn't seem to be much interest.

Sorry to those who were waiting.

I'm going to try again, but it's going to be several more weeks.

On a side note, is there any way a mod or someone could increase the amount of people viewing this thread? Maybe putting a link to it on the front page? I'd like to be able to get as many questions as possible.

Again sorry about the wait.
