Even still not, the national pride causes schism with English workers vs Scottish worker&#39;s, an&#39;we can&#39;t have that, no? I wouldn&#39;t really call it national pride. I would call it ethnic recognition That&#39;s a difference. But that&#39;s just hair splitting on my part. Recognition of Celtic heritage is different than relating yourself with the British empire.

Listen,theres nothing wrong with being proud and patriotic about ones country.Us being proud of being Scottish does not mean we fucking hate all English or we feel we&#39;re some how better than them.Ive had many dealings with Socialists from England and most of the people in the Anti Fascist organisations iam involved in are from England, and we as comrades dont have any problem working side by side.Being patriotic does not make you any less a Socialist&#33;Some of the greatest freedom fighters ever to have lived and died were patriots. That does not mean we&#39;re not also proud of international socialism(Che,proud to be a south American but fought in Congo,Connolly,proud to be Scottish but fought in Ireland,the list is endless.I know i&#39;ve kind of went off the track(ha) but what iam saying is i&#39;ve worked to promote socialism in Scotland,England,Ireland,Wales,the Basque country and in Peru and the people of these countrys(and the workers of all the countrys in the world) are fiercely patriotic but these people will be the backbone of the revolution when it comes and although we are proud of our countrys we will be even prouder to be part of a world of simply socialists&#33; :ph34r:

Surly part of being patrioctic means u uphold not only the beliefs in your cultural differences and in some cases racial differences.. but does it not also mean you are proud of your politcal system?.. eg capitalism?.. so surly u can only be a patriotic communist.. if you come from a country with a worker state??

I know were you are coming from Comrade&#33; Iam quixotic,i personally believe the only way for the world to become one nation under the Socialist banner(and we will one day) is for individual countrys to throw off the chains of there oppressors and i believe most countrys will succeed in this task with the help of nationalism.I admit that that can be a very risky strategy as we have seen in the past with Scum like Hitler,Mussolini etc but it patriotism can also be used for the good of Socialism like under Mao,Minh,Sands, even the 26th of the July movement played on the strong patriotic feelings of the great Cuban people&#33;I know Patriotic pride is a very grey area in our search for a Socialist World,many of my Communist friends are strictly against it and i see there points of views but i really believe á Chará if its used correctly and harnessed the right way then it can help in our battle for one world,No borders under a red Banner.Regards Scots Socialist...PATRIA o MUERTE VENCEREMOS

Well I&#39;m new here too but I thought I&#39;d just jump in: Marx did say that the working man had no country, but I think we can apply this notion to the idea that the working man&#39;s politics are not (or shouldn&#39;t be, if he wants to effectively fight capitalism) affected by this nationality. That is NOT to say that people who live in different countries are not effected by capitalism differently, but that one&#39;s political workview, one&#39;s political consciousness, is not in the end shaped by one&#39;s nationality and that one does not support an economic system solely because it benefits your nationality. One can also simply say that whatever national differences workers have, its all small compared to the similiarities they have, and that the differences usually stem from economic differences based on how their country&#39;s economy fits into the world capitalist system, NOT from ethnic differences.

All that being said, I am not Scottish but Irish, a people who share some similiarties with yours, and our motto is even similiar to yours: Our Time Will Come.
