This is a really good movie; it’s like a Zola novel in film. Anyways anyone seen it? If you haven’t you should.

Theses kind of films seem to be quite prevalent in France, I was thinking they never had the red scare that America had and so forth so a whole tradition has been able to take root.

La Haine is one of my favourite films!

It is very good at looking at unemployment, youth culture and the police. It wasn't revolutionary or anything but it was very thought provoking... and had a very good soundtrack iirc.

Although this film has been posted up here a hell of a lot (including my own review) I can't complain, it's possibly the best film of the 90's. BTW- the soundtrack thing? How about the deejaying bit with KRS-ONE and.....EDITH PIAF!!!

Yes, we've ALL seen La Haine. Yes, it's bloody brilliant. Yes, it's a good thesis on modern alienation. Blah, Blah, Blah.

Agree with all, unbelievable film, also great soundtrack.

On a side note, while the language was French, they were speaking in what is called L'Argot and Verlan. This is the 'slang' if you'll call it that, in the French language. Very hard to understand for someone only speaking English and French, because it reverses the words when spoken... Just a thought when I read this thread.

Anyway, great film, if you haven't seen it, go and buy it. Fantastic.
