View Full Version : Mentally Sick
The retarded, The whatever-aphobic, The dumb, the blind, and the physically impaired. Who/how will they be taken care of? Who will work in there stead, who will work for them? Will they receive the same benefits as the able-man?
This is something that concerns me, what if a retarded mans keepers (parents, family members, etc..) were not available/dead? Who would look after them? Would it be a community effort to ensure they would be taken care of, and got the proper mental health treatment they needed? Would the community deny them the same benifits as the other workers?
Your thoughts?
Edit: Mods could you add the other "L" to the thread title, I'm sort of dumb.

The mentally and physically challenged will receive more care than the average individual in a communist society because they'll need it. For example a person who has Alzheimer’s is going to need more care than the average man or women.
Also, yes the community will take care of them and so will their family members; we will not let one individual in our community take all the burden of looking after them. The individual with problems will also receive medical requirements they need.

In todays society most can't afford to take care of their mentally disabled relatives. So families members often suffer from depression and fatigue if the child has a severe problem.
So im guessing there would be centers were professionally trained people would take care of patients through the day or full time if needed. This is for severe problems were the person can't take care of themselves.
There are already centers like this, although they cost alot of money, the idea is to make support available for everyone.

This points out something really important, that often gets neglected. Society needs to take care of carers, because they face a lot of stress. I have no doubt tht they will be better off in a communist society for a number of reasons. Firstly, there won't be the same financial pressures and secondly support mechanisms should be more readily available. Also you'd hope that people would have moved past stigmatising illnesses, particularly mental ones.
For the same reasons, the lives of the chronically ill should be much better in a communist society. In addition, an individual's right to autonomy will be respected, which is really important for ethical treatment.
