Greetings, how goes the leftist movement in Pakistan?
I am not in a position to tell you about the leftist position of Pakistan but I belief that there is no harm in trying.
The leftist movement in Pakistan is currently facing a low time about the collapse of USSR, like everywhere round the world. The long decade long rule by the right-wing military dictator Zia-ul-Haq from 1977 to 1988 also brought sufficient harm to the struggle.
These days, the leftists are busy in their struggle against the Privitization of state institutions. They have made a united body known as Anti-Privitization Alliance and working to stop any further privitization. They are also working against a act known as Hasba Act that was introduced by the right-wing religious government of North Western Frontier Province. Some political parties have also shown some interest in forming a united front to fight religious extremism, right-wingers and militiary dictatorship.
I think leftist are doing a commendable job knowing that they are not in a strong position.
Please join the email list of Communist Workers and Peasant Party (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cmkp_pk) to recieve regular information about the leftist strggle of Pakistan. I hope the moderator will not count that as advertisement.
