i just find this strange that in the US at 18 you are not old enough to drink any alcholol. but at 18 you can go out and kill, you are drafted by the army, navy, marines, or whatever. the point is that you can go out and kill a man, but you cannot drink anything until your 25.

i was listning to a song that said this and i found this strange

the drinking age is 21 not 25.

25 is ridiculous. I find that hard to believe.

The age here is 18. The way it should be .

I live in Cali also but I never heard of the drinking age being raised to 25. ?? what sense does that make. A 25 year old is no more mature than a 21 year old imo.

I don't get the whole alcohol thing. I'm 22 and I have absolutely no interest in consuming alcohol.

Really? I live in california and I havent heard of such a law. Whatever, not like I obey the drinking age laws anyhow (besides, you could cross the border to Mexico easily).

Your right about the draft thing though. Fucking bastards. And foreigners (myself included) have to sign up for the selective services too when we turn 18 and we CANT EVEN VOTE.

If a person is old enough to marry they should be old enough to drink ... besides, the one generally is cause for the other.

Here you can buy booze with 16,but all the other stuff is for 18+.Also,I find it weird that porn is for 18+,but very violent movies are 16+.I mean, what would you rather have your kids do,kill eachother or make love?

here in austria you can buy and drink alcohol up to 18% with 16.But nobody cares.Recently i and some schoolmates of mine(we are 14 and 15) went to the next supermarket(we had a free hour because one of our teachers was sick) and bought a bottle polish vodka......afterwards we went back to school and drank a a little bit.(we haven't drunk the whole bottle yet, so we aren't young alcoholics)

oooooohhh, you rebel you!

please explain to me your extremely confusing first sentence.

"here in Austria you by alcohol up to 18% with 16."

So far I know that you live in austria but does this mean that you can only buy 18 percent of the alcohol with a 16 year old or that you can buy 18%of the 16 year olds you need to buy alcohol or what?

It's 18's here in Éire to buy beer. I'd hate to live where I couldn't get beer! good old Warsteiner!

mitrs, he's referring to 18% volume. It means what percentage of the liquid is alcoholic, if I recall correctly.

Most lagers, stouts, ales etc. are 4%-5.5%
Spirits like vodka, whisky etc. are usualy 35%-50%

I used to drink a little, but I gave it up. What's odd about it is that I'm 17.

There must not be an age limit for drinking , if there should be , then it has to be 3 years old .
why a man who is 17 years and 11 months cant drink and a man who is 17 years and 12 months old can drink .

porn movie laws are stupid, how come your allowed to do it when your 16, but you can't watch it till your 18, what you supposed to do, keep your eyes closed?

canikickit

why a man who is 17 years and 11 months cant drink and a man who is 17 years and 12 months old can drink .

That's a very niave view to take of things.

The reason there are laws against drinking is because alcohol is a very distructive and poisonous substance. You are particulairly suseptible to damage at a younger age, because you are still growing. Your liver is not fully mature.

With regards to 17 years and 11 months etc., etc....
There has to be a point somewhere, and 18 is the sensible (and legal) place to put it.

what you say out rages me. voting is a very good method to fight them. even if there are no platforms that you completely agree with. vote against the complete evil and settle. run yourself in your own local area under a socialist party or whatever you are. don't be so niave about voting, when we unite a lot more is possible

The age doesn't matter over my place. Little kids drink vodka, beer etc..

But I used to know many american teenagers , who actually drunk and smoked , violating the law. Hey, I was among them too ( mean smoking).

There are mant contradictions in the legalsystem based on Christian beliefs (not saying it is alone). In Australia when a Male reaches 16 he is legally allowed to have sex however one of my friends observed that the age of buying porography is 18. The thing with the U.S. is that it all comes down to patriotism and the act of Nationalism in the long-run. To quote the artist Michael Franti "The governments say that killing's a sin / Unless we kill a murderer with a lethal syringe." I remain bemused and often let down.

"Patriotism is like medicine in small doses it can do no harm but too mucch and it becomes poison"- Keith Duncan
