What was the role of Cuban soldiers in Ethiopia?

I know they fought the Apartheid army in South Africa, but I am unsure of what they did in Ethiopia.

They fought against a Somalian invasion of Ethiopia. The Somali regime was covertly aided by Washington as a way of trying to counter the Ethiopian revoution...a little bit like the Iran-Iraq war only much shorter.

Thanks for that - It's just Mengistu does seem to be a bit of a c**t who should be avoided by Socialists.

Mengistu personally isn't the issue. The Ethiopian revolution was a deepgoing mass upsurge which led to the most deepgoing land reform anywhere in Africa...reversing a previously feudal setup.
