i think that the books are very interesting, and can help people start reading again. i know when i was a child i wasnt interested in reading until i picked up the first harry potter book, which helped me become politically active.
but the book was very good, and had alot of suspense.

That is true.
It is easy to read and JK Rowling is a great storyteller.

They're great, compelling books, albeit not particularly original.
I was disapointed with Half Blood Prince because they're didn't seem to be much of a story, and it didn't work as enjoyable escapism like the earlier books did because Ron and Hermione spent most of the book not speaking and the grusome background of the war...

but that is what also made it interesting.

JK Rowling had excellent pieces of work until her sixth book was nothing more than trash. How could she go from an incredible work of depth (Order of the Phoenix) to a story of sluts and wannabes (Half-Blood Prince)?

I found the recent book to be predictable but it was still an ok book.

The Half Blood Prince isn't that exciting, I like her earlier ones better.

Is it just me or are the Gaunts a parody of white supremacist/survivalists? You know, dirty, inbred, misguided and abusive to women? :P
I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than the Order of the Phoenix, which was waaaay too long winded.
And "sluts" Rotmutter? I'm with Ginny, she can "snog" whoever the hell she wants; an she was damn right in telling Ron to shut up about it!

Innocent and a virgin till married.
Ginny and Hermione's characters were destroyed in the book and Harry became his father and completely neglected his feelings about Sirius. Also, wasn't Dumbledore and Harry supposed to train not engage in backstory?

You people need to see this, it's crazy. These MIM fanatics on IRTR think Harry Potter is imperialist.

I seriously lost all sympathy for Harry in this book. He could be the most popular student but he humiliates himself instead! And his taste in girls sux, Cho was cool but he dumped her because she cried too much. And now this slut Ginny? ;) Bleh.
I like how she makes Draco someone I can relate too instead of the two-dimensional bad guy, I like him a lot more now.
Oh by the way, I think they finished filming the fourth movie a while ago.

I like the books a lot. There a great read for when you're bored in the summer. I thought the last book was great.

Bah you're a fool lol, I'm a sucker for a red head girl :D .

I think the release date for the next Harry Potter film is sometime in November, that’s what the HP fan sites say. ;)

I would agree with you Revolution is the Solution, the book had a lot of good things about it, it explained quiet a lot about Voldermort etc.

Yeah I think it came out like last week. Either way, I don't see what the big fuss is about. Harry Potter sucks. But at least it gets kids to read!

I personally hated the first Harry Potter book, i got half way through and just gave up, I also hate the movies, but hey, if it corrupts the mids of young christians like Benedict says it can't be all bad.

Why are we discussing a kids' book?

I like the books, I stopped reading them for a while, but I read the 5th and 6th in less than 2 weeks, and I liked them both, I just hate having to wait so long, as for the movies the 2nd was awful but the 3rd sucked, I liked the 6th book, it explained alot, and the 7th will be really good, it will be alot different than the rest. I think the whole house elf, centaour, goblin, thing is a reference to 1. how badly people treat animals and 2. how badly people treat others who are different.

I don't know, i thought that someone was gonna come up w/ some bullshit propaganda theory when i went to this thread originally, but then it just became a way to say that i hate potter. so yeah....

I like the books, but I think Harry Potter has become a money making tool in the past couple of years, but that's just me. (here comes the bullshit propaganda) I work in a bookshop, and it seemed like half the people who the book on the day it came out just wanted to see what the hype was about <_< The shop made more money than ever, and sure as hell, it didn't go into my pocket.
I'm not a big Half Blood Prince fan. Too much talk and not enough action.
The whole purebloods and mudbloods thing seems to refer to rascism. Voldemort reminds me of Hitler, for obvious reasons.
And the movies suck.

I downloaded the first 5 books off Limewire and I've started reading The Philosopher's Stone. It's 40 odd pages in and he still thinks his cousin's a ****. I hope it gets darker.
