To be fair, Cuba really isn't all that democratic.

Fidel DOES imprison dissidents and he really DOESN'T promote much freedom of speech.

there are fair elections at the local level, but cuba is nothing like north korea which IS totalitarian. And from my experiences if you argue with teachers they will give you bad grades.

I argued with my science teacher all the time and got A's in that class. If you argue with teachers just make sure you do it sensibly and have some backing on what your saying. Don't just cuss and deny.

Best not to argue back until you have proof, although, whilst Cuba does have areas where the rest of the world should take not (healthcare and education) there are also areas that could use vast improvements. Save the arguments for when you teacher explains other areas from a "fair and balanced" viewpoint. Bring out the books you have been reading there. Trying to effectively defend Cuba from a school teacher isn't very easy/ likely or a particularly effective use of time.
