I was shown to this board by a friend of mine who I met through a socialist group on a silly anime forum (which I went to mainly for the political discussion, I am sad that I didn't find this website untill just now), which has a smallish communist/socialist group (around 265 members), which they elected me leader of (mainly my duties involve accepting new members and helping to answer questions pertaining to communism/socialism/politics etc). I'm not trying to boast or anything; just giving you some backround as to how I found these forums. I am also a collaberator and cohort to a friend of mine who just recently created a Marxist based website www.hammerandfire.com. We are having some trouble with direction, but I'm sure those will be solved in time, as well as when our web design skills surpass the novice level.
As far as political doctrine, I am, as far as I can tell, and to the best of my knowledge; a Marxist in general, perhaps best described as a left communist. I do like some of the theories of Lenin involving imperialism, but I do not agree with the vanguardist ideals, nor the violent revolution at all costs mentality of such a party. Nor of any singular party or clique encompassing the entire thought, will, voice, etc; of the entire proletariat. So naturally, this disposition regarding Leninism, causes a lot of modern philosophical work to fall out of the window. So I just call myself a left communist for simplicities sake (not to be confused with Trotsky's Left Opposition).
I hope I can work a lot of posts in on this very expansive and really quite exciting and envigorating forum.
As for a little about me personally: My name is TJ, I am 17 years old, I currently live in Indiana (state of the USA), I am engaged (though I don't neccisarily believe in the practice of marriage, I just decided it was a good thing to do to satisfy her family and take some pressure off of me so that my time could be better devoted to other pursuits) to my girlfriend of 2 years her name is Ashten. I am currently employed at a mechanic's garage, I mostly change semi-tires and keep the place clean, and help with minor mechanically oriented tasks (splicing (sp?) wire, holding up transmissions etc) I work about 35 hours a week, the rest of my time is spent reading. After highschool I plan to attend IPFW or another of the IU/purdue associate satillite campuses, and obtain a 4 year degree in History with the aims of becoming a highschool teacher, as well as a minor in philosophy. I then plan, through the school I teach at, to obtain a doctorate in time, in both subjects. Perhaps later branching into political science and economics, depending upon how much free time I have.
