I thought this was going to be about the posthumous Germs album. Since I have no idea who you are talking about I'll comment on the album. I love this album, they were quite a band (often overlooked) no doubt a huge influence on all the west coast punk bands that followed.

I wouldn't say Germs were overlooked I'd say they were a seminal and extremely influential group. Darby Crash and Pat Smear are household punk names.

But back on topic. I first heard sunshowers and thought it was shit and so was she that it was lazy gimmickry but I really like Galangalang or whatever it's called and Bucky Done Gun. I'm not a fan of 99% of rap but I think what she's doing is breaking new ground and really interesting.

haha i thought galangalang was really lame but i found sunshowers to be pretty sweet, i thought it had a great beat.

I don't think she's 'Grime' at all that's shit like Dizee Rascal and ties in with the chav culture of Mike Skinner as The Streets. I think what she's doing is totally different to the Grime scene and far superior.

I mean she's no Nirvana, Beatles or Dylan but she's pretty fucking good especially since I'm a **** about most rap. She's atonal but still really good. She's a female rapper which makes it even more of a rarity for her to be so good and she's original in a highly derivative genre. I really like her and may even buy something I'm not sure. The last rapper I came close to feeling this positive about was King Kapisi but he wasn't breaking any new ground just really good and mellow.

I'm actually putting her up there with stuff like Tupac, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, Afrika Bambataa, Grandmaster Flash, Gil Scott Herron, The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Capelton, Linton Kwesi Johnson and the other dub poets.

I think she may not be great yet but she's that anthemic and catchy and also original that she warrants serious respect. She's probably the most serious rapper other than Common that's actually good that I can think of and... she shits all over Roots Manuva.

See as I say I hate most rap and I'm very wary of admitting to liking any of it and will only recognise the truly great stuff and she's up there her beats and rhymes are already better than Wu Tang Clan and she shows no bullshit pose or signs of decline.

I've only heard the "Sunflowers" song, and in my opinion its really good, and its puts me to a good mood. I normally ignore, or pity this genre, but she has caught my attention. Im digging it!

it's not hip-hop really.

it's like a more hip-hop influenced sri-lankan bjork.

i agree, i wouldn't class her as hip-hop, shes a rapper but her beats are more of that u.k garage-jungle beats style.
