I like them a lot. They're intense, unique and politically conscious. That's something seldom seen in the mainstream, and the ocassional Armenian/Middle Eastern flourishes are just fuckin' sick.

I don't love them but I'm totally feeling that song BYOB . My friend told me it stood for Bring Your Own Beer
I like their old stuff more than the recent stuff though. Especially the Sugar song. I don't know if you guys would consider that old or not but it's still a bad ass song.

Excellent band. My favorite song is "Prison Song"
Anyone else here extremely satisfied by the vast improvement in Daron's (Guitar) voice? Most notable in the new CD "Mezmerize"

When I first heard BYOB I though there was a female guest vocalist, then I realised it was Daron. :P

I thought they used female back up vocals for Daron, that would be awesome sounding :che:

I forgot to add the song Psycho!
If you like SOAD, you should download Richard Cheese's version of Chop Suey - its hilarious!

BYOB parties  ! But in this context it means Bring Your Own Bombs, obviously a bit sarcastic politicalities.
Anyway, my favorite song is Sugar, and Highway Song, but from the newest album I love every song intensly. Like Radio/TV, Revenga, and the whole thing.

I don't like the nu-metal, but at first I liked BYOB as the video and the song are very anti-capitalist.
Then in GuitarWorld there was an interview with Daron and he said something like, "I'm not an activist, I mean I drive a Hummer."
That really pissed me off that he had this position to motivate kids to fight the fucken system and he just didn't.
But they do have a funny song that goes something like:
"MY COCK IS MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS!!!!!!"

Personally I'm not really a big fan, but I love the song "Violent Pornography." The singles from Toxicity were ok, but a bit dull after a while.

Toxicity is their worst album. All the others are far better in my opinion.

That still does not make it a pretty good album, just not as good as their others.

Heh. I think I'll follow that up on this thread with: I think BYOB is one of the most energetic songs on Mesmerize...and the song "Violent Pornography" is just bizarre. :o

I used to listen to them all the time and still do now and then. They sold out thou I am sad to say. The music is still good thou, the first album was the best. Mezmerize was good but not at good as the album "System of a Down." I think its a shame that they are on a major label, their music is more suited for an indie label.

At the risk of sounding trendy my favorite is Aerials, with Prison Song coming in a close second. It's unfortunate about Daron; Serg always struck me as something of a budding revolutionary and I had hoped the band would take an even harder turn to the left. Although, I guess one could argue he's SOAD's version of Brad Wilk.

I saw them on Saturday Night Live yesterday and asked my sister who they were since the vocals sounded familiar. When she told me it was them I was surprised, I had not seen pictures of them since they released chop suey as a single.
