Did anyone ever notice how......
If there is a show with 5 white people and one or maybe two black people they call it a multiracial cast or a multicultural show, and its just a show....
But if there was 5 black people and one white person or maybe two, they wouldnt call it multiracial even though it is, theyd just call it a black show.
What do you think about this, and what effects do you think it has on society?

i think it shows the fear most rich white men have by not giving the 'black shows' enough publicity, cause there not 'multiracial'.

Multi-ethnic TV is a big thing in Canada. Can't say its a problem.
1. CTV news is now broadcasted in several languages- and ethnic perspectives
2. Several channels are for ethnic shows from Japan, China, Mexico/Spain, India, Pakastan, and Middle East. Viewer % is very high among Canadians!
3. 2 channels in particular are multifaith, and have daily readings from either Hindu, Siek, Muslim, Buddhist, liberal Christian, or Jewish faith.
4. Canadian Political views are often expressed on a Federal Government owned channel which allows the viewer to see issues from a left as well as right perspective.
5. our First Nations people...even have their own broadcast channel and its full of origional programming.

When I go to the states: I don't see ethnic groups having a true voice as they do in Canada. This is sad to see. I also see a lot of sterotyping which shows me that so many people are ignorent of each other. It basically White owned and Operated TV...

I think they think that if they have one minority on TV who can initiate a world-wide boycott of the meat industry and get people reading book, as Oprah has, then having too many minorities on tv might be a "dangerous" thing for them.

I don't think their should be any white or black shows, but I don't thinkthat the example Raisa gave is entirely accurate because, this country is 77% white so, having a show that is say, 4/5's white is fairly representative of what everyday life is like. On the other hand, considering a show bad because it has a disproportionate amount of minorities is a very terrible thing, and it is things like that, that will lead to open, public racism.

I concur with codyvo.
When we lower ourselves to the level of saying that there isnt enough of one race in something, isnt that racist itself?
