Bill Ehrie explained that Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota should be kept open because it would provide better coverage and allow for a faster B1 bomber strike anywhere within the country. Because their current bombing range is too close for training purposes to the other base under consideration for closure , he argued the other base should be closed.

I wonder how many of the bomber crews would be willing to do the deed for real? What circumstances would provoke 134,000 (public maximum B1B payload) pounds of bombs?

Has the B1 ever actually been used in combat? I know upto about 5 years ago (when I went to an airshow <_< ) it hadn&#39;t.
Oh yeah, and those planes are fucking loud. Imagine the loudest gig you&#39;ve ever been to and multiply the volume by about 100 times.
