so i dont know how many of u out there live in florida, but pinellas county has strictened the dress code policy.no flips..sleeveless shirt, ect. yadda yadda yadda. i big one for me is no mini skirts above mid thigh.... big problem for me. i only wear and own mini skirts, half of them are just above mid-thigh. as long as your ass is covered we should be able to skirts of many lengths. who the hell was complaining about it, guys sure aren't, girls aren't i was definetly not complaining. pretty soon they'll have alot stricter rules. just because we're minors in school dosn't mean we should have our freemdom regulated. i know this is a weak issue that s not really a big deal, but i would highly appreciate any support or advice. if the goverment wants to keeps kids in school and want them to come then they shouldn'y have so many rules. during 2nd semester in my freshmen year(the first one) i missed 42 days partially cause of their bullshit and sucky ass teachers.

Sign petitions, gather numbers, and protest. Just don't do anything that is extreme, violent, or illegal. The basis is getting those to get involved in an organized manner :che:

They do it to discourage sex. Between STDs and pregnancy, I can understand their concerns. However, the solution is not to ban the culture, but to accept the fact that we need to teach people about the joys and dangers of sex from an earlier age than we used to.

Its gonna happen, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it, so the right thing to do is to teach how to be responsible when it happens.

People should be able to wear what they like, even if that means walking around naked. On the other hand, people who take such extreme pride in their appearance are victims of the corrupt fascist media and it's obsession with celebrity. But yeah those rules suck.

This is happening at a public school!?!

A lot worse than that is happening at public schools in America. Finger print scanners have been installed on some school buses and need to be used if you want a ride, in some schools you are forced to wear an ID card with a barcode to be tracked at all times (and you will be suspended if not expelled for refusing to wear it), forced psychological testing and medication (the State will take your kids away from you if you don't buy and force them to take the unnecessary and expensive pills), and the list goes on.

*edit*
Those are some heavy accusations, so maybe I should back them up.

Well, I love in Florida too, and I definitely think that the dress codes they have are pretty strict. I live in Charlotte county and our dress code seems to be about the same as yours. For us though, the rule for girls that want to wear skirts is that they have to be to the knees. And they do get pretty strict about the finger tip length rule for shorts. Yeah, the rules are pretty crappy. I suggest you get a bunch of your friends together and protest. Perhaps get a bunch of your gal pals to all wear mini skirts one day at school? That'd be interesting. And in reponse to Seeker's comment on the necessities of sex education, I heartily agree that a greater focus nneds to be put on it for the younger people of our generation. But the problem with it is that even what they teach us even in high school isn't that great. My whole county practices an "abstinance" approach to sex education. Not one school in my county will teach a young adult safe sex. Not one. The teachers will just tell you how horrible it is and that you shouldn't do it. The only thing close that I've ever had to sex ed was what my crackpot christian conservative health teacher taught us. He told us that having sex was like "playing Russian roulette with your life." He also told me friends class that AIDS was god's way of getting rid of gay people.

I would suggest organization. Last year at my school, they tried to kill the mini skrit, and even though I was a guy, I became a leader, and from the shear numbers of signees they dropped the whole notion. You know what really pisses off conservitives? Them getting caught in their own hypocracy. Print off the first admendment to the bill of rights, then attach it to a petition, then get majority to sign, give it the prinicpal. If it continues istigate a student strike. If teachers can't teach, funding gets cut off, because of No Child Left Behind act, and slowly but surely, you can take down the whole school.

I'm sorry....but,who fucking cares ?

Its mini-skirts, its not like you wore something that shows your sexual orientation or political stance and got kicked out for it. Teenage boys are horny bastards, they look at you in a mini-skirt and they might look at you as someone to fuck in the toilet. Be careful and kick where it counts....in the balls. The school is just showing concern.

Heres what I don't understand, when I went to highschool I wore a big up-side down American Flag on my the back of my Jackett,no one said ANYTHING. I wore a shirt that said " How dare you oppose the system,go back to Russia",no one said anything. But,then I did a pro-athiest skit for drama class,3 days out of school suspension. This skit was based on facts and there was no profanity involved. Its was purely scientific.
