Why are people opposed to the G8 Confrences?

Because it's basically eight rich powerful extreme capitalists deciding the fate of the world. Hmmm, very democratic, seeing as how they go on about the importance of democracy! I'd like to reinforce that; 8 people deciding the fate of 6billion others. Also, they debate methods to make more money for their already stinking rich countries, and the methods they discuss are all exploitative towards a lot of people.

In short: The G8 is a meeting of eight extreme capitalists deciding how best to exploit people.

The 2005 one, Make Poverty History, yeah, like they really care. It's their fault poverty exists anyway! Exploiting people with their capitalist ways. Fuck all eight of them!

Yeah that is pretty much it. 8 leader of the richest nations of the world getting together and deciding who they will and will not do trade with, and for what reasons they would not do trade with a country.

I am going to give you a serious non-12 yr old answer as to why people object to the G8. I would suggest you not listen to the children.

The problem is that the G8 is composed of those most industrialized nations and many times they do what is in favor of their respective nations. For instance, one big issue in this G8 summit with regards to Africa was the U.S subsidization of the agricultural industry. The thing is that if the U.S did not subsidize these industries and dropped tariffs on imports, African farmers could export these goods and that would be good for African economies. While the U.S does this at the same time the U.S attacks other nations for putting up trade barriers such as tariffs and international finance organizations such as the IMF and the World Bank (which are run by the U.S and the Europeans) force developing nations to take down these trade barriers and privatize industries in order to recieve loans. This by many in the third world is viewed as hypocritical.

A note about those loans: There is little hope of them ever being repaid, so until the Southern Hemisphere gains the collective clout to renege on the loans, they will be making crippling interest payments for the rest of eternity.

I was giving the simple answer, rather than 'childish' as you seem to put it.

The USA, the UK, Russia, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, and Germany. All represented by their "democratically" elected leaders, which I guess I'll list:

USA - George W. Bush
UK - Tony Blair
Canada - Paul Martin
France - Jacques Chirac
Germany - Gerhard Schröder
Italy - Silvio Berlusconi
Japan - Junichiro Koizumi
Russia - Vladimir Putin
European Union - President of the European Council, President of the European Commission and President of the European Parliament
International Monetary Fund - Director of the International Monetary Fund
