Just started reading up about him in detail fairly recently. What are your opinions of him?

I always wondered about his life and achievements. I concentrated on Che and Fidel but I never had the oportunity to read about Ortega. Can you tell me a brief bio on him and what your opinions are about this guy? I just want to know.

From what I understand he led the Sandanistas in an uprising against the oppressive government of Nicaragua and became president after the revolution. Then the USA started to openely critisize Ortega purely because he is socialist. The Nicaraguan people believed the USA and he lost the next election, stepping down peacefully. The Sandanista party today still remain the biggest and strongest opposition to the government.
I always concentrated on Che and Fidel too! From what I've read it seems Ortega was a good president and did a lot for Nicaragua before the USA messed things up (typical!)

Your welcome. I never knew much about him, then one day I'm sitting at home on the PC, nothing to do, "i know! I'll research Daniel Ortega!". Wikipedia have a decent enough page on him.

The so called "anti-terrorist" country is not so "anti-terrorist" as they think. I hate that kind of thing, you know? They tell the world about their anti-terrorist policy and how to rid the world of it and bring freedom to every corner. Two faced, lying pricks! And they call us terrorists too! They got some nerve! But, I still think that there is hope for the American people of waking up as we did. Of becoming aware and that not everything is what it seems. That's our job. :hammer:

Is it true Ortega abused his step-daughter?
