It seems to me that the free trading of capitalism and the ability to own a business isn't that bad, becuase in places such as NK the economy is in shambles, and people are starting their own black market were they can purchase TVs and tapes on other "contraband" from China, seems to me communism would restrict more than is would free(just something I've been thinking, I'm not a capitalist, just wondering)

Why do people start their own business? Money
Some kind of self-respect (illusion of being a successful person)
Feeling of "freedom"

In Communism (not NK!): There are no money so you don't really have to start your own business to do what you like and get what you need
People aren't judged by their success (read: wealth)
There are no bosses. Feel free!

If there is no scarcity of products, there is no black market.

capitalism can play a relatively progressive role but there are clear limitations which call for the creation of a real socialist/communist state (not NK, not China). The dependence on the exploitation of other developing states, the fallacy of "open" elections in which capital is the real winner. In many ways, the freedom of capitalism is the freedom of (wage) slavery.

I guess it depends on your perspective: that of the slave or that of the master.

1 Billion Malnourished starving people canīt be wrong. Capitalism doesnt work because it is only motivated out of self interest and degrades families and communities into solo consumers who will sell their brother for a new cd and lose all sense of humanity.

Also what needs to be pointed out is that even though a country may call itself communist, does not mean that it actually is. No one would go off and say that the Democratic Republic of Congo was democratic now would they?

When it comes to North Korea, the system is more similiar to a monarchy living in a feudal society. China would be a capitalist nation.

Actually, according to UN statistics, three billion (yup, half of us) people live on the unpleasant side of the poverty line.

In North Korea, wanna-be capitalists are challenging state-monopoly capitalsm . . . all this really proves is that state-monopoly capitalism in backwards countries, cut off completely from world trade, is not particularly effective at meeting people's needs. It doesn't really mean "free" markets are desirable in any grand sense . . . just a last resort for starving people.
