Greetings Comrades,

I haven't posted here for awile as I've been busy doing campain work for Green party candidates. I thought this article would be of interest to some however.

Here in the Capital disterect of New York State, we have a progressive newspaper called Metroland. In their recent issue they came out and endorsed our Green Party Candidate for New York Stat Governer Stanley Aronowitz who's website can be found at http://www.stanleyaronowitz.org

Just a reminder to New York Residents, we need 50,000 votes next week (nov 5) in order to remain a party in New York State, and we are the only party on the ballot here in New York who is against the war in Iraq.

Here is the Metroland endorsement. Below are the 2 relevant paragraphs

While we would have preferred to support a progressive candidate with a
realistic chance to unseat Pataki - whose stealth campaign, bipartisan
dealmaking and artful blurring of his own political leanings convince us of
nothing other than his being a shameful opportunist - we instead will
follow
our conscience and endorse the candidate who most unwaveringly supports a
progressive platform: Green Party candidate Stanley Aronowitz.

The Green candidate goes beyond McCall in calling for significant increases
in education funding and tuition-free public universities; a major shift in
energy policy toward conservation and renewable resources; universal
health-care coverage; improved services for the poor and a living minimum
wage; and closure of the budget deficit through cuts in corporate welfare
and
closing tax loopholes for the wealthy. While Aronowitz has no chance of
surprising Pataki this year, the only way to show our major party leaders
that they do not represent our wishes is to vote for someone who does.

I certainly hope you get those votes. Any party who is anti-war on Iraq is worth voting for in the present circumstances.

What is upsetting is the amount of Democrats who continue to support the Democratic candidate Carl McCall, who has openly supported the war on Iraq regardless of the fact that personally they oppose it.

In fact, as I go door to door talking to democrats, (this is a mostly democrat run city) It seems that the greater majority oppose the war, yet can't imagine themselves thinking of voting for anything other then Democrat.

This month here in the Capital of New York, we have two chances to show the Democrats they don't have our best interests in mind.

First is Election Day Nov 5th. We are expecting a number of people to go out and show they support peace by voting for the green party. It has already been determined that the democrats supporting Bush's war machine will hurt them badly in elections nationwide.

Secondly, Senator Hillary Clinton is going to be speaking in Albany in a week or two. We are organizing a protest against her vote for war, labeling her as a warmonger.

The Democrats have shown what we have been accusing them of for some time. That they will increasingly compromise the values of the American people, and misrepresent us internationally if it means corporations will make billions of dollars more with the takeover of Iraqi oil fields.

The time to end corporate rule and restore democracy is now!

comrade, you sound like you're doing a good job. Are you optimistic about reaching the 50,000 mark? do you have many branch members and volunteers helping out at the booths and such?

I was worried about reaching 50,000 votes, but after going door to door this weekend and talking to people, I'm more optomistic about it.

We are very active here in Albany NY, however, the last two days of the election (the next two) are what can make or break it.

We have people who will be watching the poles all day Tusday... and people handing out cards outside the voting places, as well as people driving between all the polling sites making sure the Republicans and Democrats don't play their usual games.

I'm all for the Green Party. Quite a few people here in NJ are planning on voting for Ted Glick for Senator, and in NJ we also have a member of the Socialist party running, who I like, but it would be far wiser to vote for Ted Glick, the Socialist Party and the Green Party have similiar platforms.

Well here in New York the Socialist Party doesn't have ballot status. Some Socialists like Howie Hawkins the green party candidate for controler, have chose to run on the green ticket because as you said, the platforms are identical.
