Paradox

The Zapatista Coalition sent an email to my father asking for people to write letters of solidarity to send to the Zapatistas. My father told me to the write the letter on behalf of the both of us. I wrote it in the style of Zapatista communiques. I thought they would like that. Anyway, here's the letter I wrote:
Zapatista Solidarity Coalition
Belly of the Beast.
Letter of Solidarity
January 1st. 1994. A storm was born in Mexico. The faceless rose to challenge the ones who represent the people. They sang the Yaocuicatl. They sang the War Song. They still do. For 11 years they have challenged the treatment they have received for more than 500 years.
The people called for an end to the fighting. And they listened. They have kept true to the ceasefire, unlike the ones who represent the people. Words are more powerful than bullets, the truth, more damaging than any gun, or bomb, or sword. And so they have spread the truth, striking fear in those who speak with forked tongues. They have awoken the minds of many, touched their spirits, and given them hope.
They have helped pave the way. But they are not above the people. They are the people. The people have a say, and the comandantas and comandantes listen. Autonomous councils and Good Government Juntas, the people have the power. And they are making something better for themselves.
The amaniliztli, the storm, still brews above. But when it is gone, the world will not be the world, but something better. The struggle is long and hard, but it will be won. The seeds of justice have been planted, and the rains are on the way. And for your hard work and sacrifice, we salute you all, and we wish you well. Todos somos Marcos.
