This is all fine and dandy, but why do they make these 'eco friendly' cars the most god-ugly things you've ever seen?!

If they want people to buy them, put them inside something that looks like a car, not some sort of weird shiny round bubble on wheels.

Great idea, though. But they're just not gonna save the environment when alls people are interested in is aesthetic appeal. And those cars aren't aesthetically pleasing.

Ohhhh :( I thought it would be a flying car.

yeah, I agree, FF. Looks like something modeled after the playskool vehicles.

It's a first step though.. but of course probably out of the reach of the general public. probably costs a couple arms and a leg.

I'm still skeptical of these eco-cars. I'm not sure if this is enough to stop over-use of natural resources. For instnace, since these things are safer for the environment, more people will buy them, which means more cars will be on the roads, which means that more roads will have to be built.

Hmm sounds intriguing.

That would happen either way; this is just less of a problem.

Mass transit is the logical way to go... it just doesn't fit corporate agendas <_<

I agree with most of the random sentiment.... eco-friendly cars would have a much better following if they didn't look crap. The kind of people who buy pickup trucks are normally "straight-as-an-arrow working folk".

Cars like this

just don't hit the target market. Which is frivolus yet of extreme importance.

hmm... interesting idea... but still.. i think people should be weaning themselves of cars, and gearing themselves twowards mass transit and bikes, and walking.

Rise up For the rest of the world bikes mass transit and walking doesnt always work. You need cars its just always going to be that way. Unless you live in the city bikes walking and mass transit are impracticle.

That's why everyone in China and Bangladesh don't have 2 cars in their garage, because they are environmentalists?

I'm afraid I think that cars are here to stay...at least for a very long time to come.

Of course the young and fit can walk/ride bikes...but most people are neither.

And, if you're lucky enough to find an apartment close to a transit stop...that can often work just as well.

But suppose you have several errands to run or you need to transport something heavy and bulky...then a car/small truck becomes vital.

Small cars and trucks that are cheap to run (no matter what they look like) would be a huge improvement over the present situation. An "urban car" that would be easy to park, use little or no gas/oil, be capable of 50 mph, etc. makes sense to me.

Durability is important as well. It will be interesting to see how much time an "air car" spends in the shop for repairs.

Hmm; I don't know how much you would expect to pay for parts either

Why should it always be that way? Personal transportation uses MASSIVE recourses and for what we have now 10X more support seems like little to expect of the capability of mass-transit. Sure, we may have little support carts or aerial vehicles from underground subways but overall, I don't see why mass transit couldn't do away with cars entirely.

This may not be the final solution, but if this company distributed they're technology with every car company, think of the environment's benefit.

Until captialism is stopped, progress toward economical vehicles will be very slow; the oil barons have been trying their best to stamp out progress in alternate resources. They probably won't introduce alternate fuel cars until the petroleum runs out! I don't like the rising gas prices, but there is no alternate fuel yet. Oh, the wonderful glories of monopoly capitalism!

i love the idea of a car run on air pressure.......an air compressor can be run from your home and you could fill it from your garage by pluggin it in.......
.....it would help alot............but then you also gotta realize that the electricity is being made usually from fossil fuels and coal being burnt ..............i say every person should get 2 wind generators on the top of there house and then link em all in a grid, then youc an charge your car and house......and bam.....solved.....no more greenhouse.......
.....wish it was simple like that......
