Istanbul Embraced Thousands of Communists
Istanbul… The capital of the labor, the homeland of Turkish and Kurdish proletariat… This metropolis saw last Tueasday one of the most important days of its history. Only a few days left for the elections, CP of Turkey came together with thousands of her supporters in Kadikoy, one of the important squares in Istanbul.
The people of Turkey was used to see each year, on October 29th, which is the anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, same well-known official parades. But last Tuesday the agenda of at least an important part of the population was the Istanbul meeting of communists and working people. Naturally, this time red flags were waving in streets and proletarian marches filling squares.
The Communist Decree
In the first place, Suleyman Baba, the organizational secretary of the party, read from the rostrum the communist decree that CP of Turkey announced recently. Applauses and slogans were heard after each item of the decree.

Guler: "The people of Turkey is arising."
Nextly, Aydemir Guler, the president of the Communist Party of Turkey, started his speech commemorating socialist and revolutionary figures, who have left important marks in the history of Turkey. He said the people is arising up gradually for socialism. He also touched on the 79th anniversary of the Republic by making clear the hypocrisy of the sovereigns of the country who have dragged the country into poverty, unemployment and foreign dominance for many years and have at the same time mentionned independance and republicanism. He reminded that these men, puppets of Washington, have always brazenly accused patriot communists of being directed by "outer powers". Guler added that while the socialist republic ends this shamelessness through her socialist power, these vile men would be let out of the country, with their NATO, IMF and their dollars without any obstacle, they would be given "the liberty to clear out."
Guler continued his speech stating that the socialist power will end the starvation and the unemployment by eliminating the country from exploiters who profit from these conditions of the people. He finalized his speech saying that after the establishment of socialist Turkey would not be left on her own vis-à-vis other countries, on the contrary, only then would the people of Turkey set an example for other peoples of the world.

Okuyan: "TKP is not an election party!"
In his speech, Kemal Okuyan, the General Secretary of the Central Committee, emphasized the importance of principled politics and criticized other parties of the left which exaggerate their power and which use pictures of their presidents on their propaganda posters. Okuyan said that the attitude that a revolutionary party takes in her struggle also determines her character thus CP of Turkey must and will be sincere with the people. He finally affirmed that TKP is not an election party and will not take part in this ironic democracy game but will march to power with the real support of working people.

TKP will strengthen by transforming votes to organized ones
People's Istanbul meeting was ended with the music from the famous folk music band, Kizilirmak. Thousands of workers, students and intellectuals had given a very significant message against the expectation of the bourgeoisie, which anticipates a "more advertised" but "less organized" communist party. Now that the elections are about to be held, the following task of the party is to meet all across the country her voters to organize larger crowds, more young militants and vanguard workers.
